I’ve initiated the Power Down process for my @gtg Steem account. For the first time in my life.

I'm no longer a Witness on Steem. I have updated to Hive and I encourage all of you to do the same.
I will continue my efforts to improve Hive.

Steemit Inc. has decided to censor my account (@gtg) as well as the accounts of many other reputable community members.
Also, they are using a dynamic censorship list; fetching post IDs from an IP address located in China.

I will mute @gtg account in Blockchain Wizardry community to avoid duplicates in apps that support communities but not censorship.

That’s what Steem and Steemit now are. And things will only get worse.

Although “Steemit Inc. Terms of Service“
say:

“Last Updated June 15, 2018”

you can see on GitHub a sneaky commit:

that in the section:

”14. User Conduct”
”14.1”
”(...) you agree that you will not:”

a particularly interesting line has been added:

”14.1.7. Use our services to promote third-party platforms or to promote each other without our written permission.”

So make sure you have a written permission whenever you want to say nice things about your friends on Steemit.

From now on, all rewards from my posts and comments (if any, because of the new reality with our new overlords) will be used towards dev work and onboarding efforts. That is, until the Power Down process ends.

On Hive, obviously.
