RE: Ancient Egyptian manual reveals new details about mummification - University of Copenhagen
The Egyptians also mummified some animals since they considered that they kept the essence of the gods inside them. There were immense cemeteries destined only for the burial of certain species venerated as divinities. The gods were represented zoomorphic, anthropomorphic and mixed. Several teams of researchers in Baltimore, Chicago and Navarra have applied the technique of high resolution computerized axial tomography of animal mummification, contributing new knowledge to this ancestral practice.
as always a very exciting and interesting topic.
