You deserve what you dream
"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure." - Paulo Coelho
From a young age, I began to envision the things I wanted to have and accomplish by a certain age. I imagined getting married and having children by the time I turned 20, and by 24, I pictured myself proudly raising my kids at such a young age. I often shared these dreams with my siblings during our conversations, as it was a vision I truly hoped would come true. However, I've come to realize that sometimes our dreams do not align with what God has planned for us.
Do you consider yourself a dreamer? |

We all have aspirations and desires for our lives. So, what distinguishes someone with dreams from a true dreamer?
I often hear the terms "dreamers" and "realists" used as if they are opposing ideas. However, I believe that one can embody both qualities, and that this combination is quite beneficial.
When people refer to themselves as dreamers, it sometimes feels like they are using the label to excuse their lack of accountability. Similarly, the term realist can often be a cover for negativity.
In my view, a dreamer is someone who sets goals and is determined to pursue them, regardless of how feasible they may appear to others. Many people are held back by fear, afraid to take risks or face failure. Consequently, they underestimate their potential, convincing themselves they can't achieve their dreams. A true dreamer is willing to take risks to chase their aspirations. So yes, I am a dreamer.
However, being a dreamer doesn't mean acting without thought. It doesn't imply moving forward without a strategy or disregarding the potential outcomes of one's actions.
On the other hand, being a realist doesn't equate to seeing flaws everywhere. It doesn't mean searching for reasons to avoid action or justifying why something can't be done. That’s simply pessimism. While realists acknowledge challenges, they don’t let those challenges deter them. Instead of saying they can't accomplish something, a realist identifies possible obstacles and considers how to address them.
Thus, being a dreamer and a realist are not mutually exclusive; they actually enhance each other.
You have the power to shape your life as you wish. Dream big, set your goals, and have faith in yourself. Don’t let others' skepticism hold you back, but also ensure your dreams are rooted in reality.
What anecdotes do you remember about that dream you achieved? |
---|
I have accomplished many dreams in my life, and I am truly thankful for each one. The experience of envisioning my goals and then bravely pursuing them was incredible. When I began this journey, I didn't have anyone to support me; I realized it was a choice I needed to make and act on at the right moment.
I understood that if I shared my aspirations with others, I might lose my chance, and those dreams could fade away. So, I committed to taking that courageous step. When I finally realized that dream, I was overwhelmed with joy and tears, as I never thought it was possible for me to pursue a dream on my own and make it a reality.
What have been your hardest dreams to achieve? |
---|
I wouldn't describe my dreams as difficult. I believe that a dream feels challenging when you don't take action, but it becomes easier once you take that courageous step.
The most challenging dream for me has been to have my own kitchen. I've always envisioned a large kitchen where all the culinary magic takes place. Although I've dreamed about it for a long time, I haven't received the support I need to make it a reality.
I continue to dream because I know this dream will come true. I don't give up easily, and I believe it's only a matter of time before it happens.
What do you think of the phrase, "The only thing you don't deserve is what you don't try for?" |
---|
I believe this is accurate because if you aren't willing to make significant efforts to reach a goal, it suggests you may not truly deserve it. However, there are times when we do deserve certain things but hesitate to pursue them, often due to a fear of failing.
Many individuals let the fear of failure hold them back, overlooking the fact that failure can be a valuable learning experience.
