Growyourown||Making the most of small area of land

Friends of steemit all greetings of success always for all of you wherever you are....

Farming is a job that is generally done by people who live in tropical countries. Likewise with residents who live in Indonesia. Generally, people here make farming as their main job and some even just channel their hobbies. Utilizing the existing land, to plant various plants that produce for their own use. This is something done by one of my friends who works as a lecturer at a state university in the district where I live.

On a small plot of land, he grows a variety of crops that are usually for his own consumption. This land is in the housing complex where we live. And the area is not large, it is located on the edge of rice fields with soil conditions on the hills, even requiring special attention to plant plants. There are bitter melon plants that are planted which utilize the fence as a place for the plants to creep and start bearing fruit.

The bitter melon is ready to be harvested even if it is only a few fruits. This bitter-tasting fruit is often used as a vegetable.

Apart from bitter melon, this small plot of land is also planted with tabasco peppers. Chili with a very attractive color when entering maturity and ready for harvest. The flavor is very spicy and is usually used for geprek chicken sellers. This chili is quite resistant to pest attacks, at least only regular watering needs to be done, especially the contours of the solid soil.

In addition, there is a chili plant nursery that is also carried out on this narrow land. The chili plants in the nursery will be planted on the narrow land that is still available. Which of course will soon be planted in the area that has been prepared beforehand.

This small area of land is also planted with cucumber plants. Cucumber plants are planted on land that has been raised slightly or in other words, a bundle is made to avoid puddles of rainwater. Because the contours of the land here are slightly different from the contours of the land in other places, rainwater takes time to seep into the soil. So it is necessary to make a place that is higher than where other plants are planted to avoid plant decay.

There are also mustard greens planted on this land as well as spinach plants. However, both of these plants do not thrive, and need to be re-fertilized using manure. This area is a livestock area managed by residents. So it is very easy to get organic fertilizer from livestock manure.

There are also chili plants and other plants that are planted on this land. Which are generally used for additional spices, such as ginger, turmeric which is one of the complements of kitchen spices. All the plants planted on the narrow land located in this housing complex are managed by the lecturer himself.

The point is that when there is land that can be used to produce, we can take advantage of it in between our busy activities. To simply make a hobby or main job as a person who lives in the tropics.
