Test Of Love

in STEEM FOR BETTERLIFE12 days ago

Once upon a time, two lovers were crazily in love with each other. Once they visited a park, under a tree, and they expressed their love for each other, as they did this, John observed how leaves fell by the little windstorm but the tree itself never fell, he said to Joy; "Just like a tree that withstands the windstorm is my love for you, it will withstand windstorms like obstacles and challenges, it will never fail, my love for you is eternal". Joy was blown away by his sweet words, and these were reassuring words for her, and she hugged him out of happiness and said; " I love you too".

To these love birds, it was as if things would go as smoothly as they were from the beginning. To them, love was sweet, and they never foresaw the obstacles that awaited them. But things changed immediately when Joy's parents were aware of their relationship; John wasn't their dream son-in-law.

John was just an ordinary guy from a poor background, but he was intelligent and industrious, and to sum it all up, he had a brighter future because he studied engineering in school and graduated with good grades. But Joy's parents opposed the relationship and warned their daughter she shouldn't have anything to do with the poor guy, John. They called John and asked him to stay away from Joy, their daughter.

Joy promised John that she would never leave him, that he was her future husband, and they hugged each other as they were reassuring each other of their love. John was convinced of Joy's love. But the opposition from Joy's parents was not the real test of their love, this was yet to come.

Paul, who was Joy's childhood friend, visited her and her parents. Paul, it's been a long time, where have you been? Mr. AKPAN, Joy's Father asked. In reply, Paul said, "I have been away for a professional course, and thank Goodness, I was employed by Fengo Oil company." Congratulations, the Akpan family, in their voice, said to Paul.

Paul gave wine to Mr. AKPAN as tradition demands and said, "Your daughter and I have been friends from childhood; I couldn't think of another girl when I wanted to settle for a wife; please, sir, I love your daughter, and I want to marry her". AKPAN accepted the drink, and without hearing from his daughter first, he consented to Paul's proposal. This was their dream son-in-law, he was rich.

Joy was perplexed when her father told her she was going to marry Paul whether she liked it or not. Paul was handsome, her childhood friend, and he was rich too. John, on the other hand, was not ready for marriage yet because of his financial constraints. Should she choose Paul over John? This was a real test of love.

Joy began spending time with Paul, but as she tried she became unhappy. She realized that her happiness was with John, and she determined to remain with John and fight for their love.

John was later employed by a reputable company, and he was well-paid. He proposed to Joy, and they got married.

On their wedding night, John said: "Wind blew, a heavy windstorm came to blow us apart, but my dear one stood firm like a strong tree who withstand windstorm. Our love was tested, we were shaken by parents and suitors who were rich, but my dear one remained with me. What can I say? Love is beautiful; it conquers and stands the test of time".

They hugged each other after the poetic expression of love; they had a beautiful moment together and lived happily after.
