A book fair has been going on for a few days now at the Narayanganj Central Municipal Shaheed Minar premises. For the past two days, my husband has been telling me that he would take me to visit the book fair. However, we couldn’t manage the time to go. But today, no excuses—I am definitely going to the book fair. Visiting book fairs has always been a joyful experience for us.
In the morning, I woke up and quickly prepared breakfast without wasting much time. Then, my husband and I got freshened up and had breakfast together. After breakfast, we rested for a while and then took a shower. By the time we got ready and left home, it was already noon. We went downstairs and waited for an auto-rickshaw. After a while, we got one and rode it to Pathantuli.
From there, we waited for another auto-rickshaw. The sun was shining brightly today. After waiting a bit, we found another auto-rickshaw and headed toward Chashara. After a while, we reached Chashara.
As always, there was a big crowd at the Shaheed Minar intersection today. We crossed the road, maneuvering through the traffic, and headed toward the book fair.
We entered the book fair and immediately noticed several stalls set up there. It was organized in the Shaheed Minar premises. We strolled around, visiting each stall, and were delighted to see a wide collection of books. Although the arrangement was small, it was reasonably well-managed. Various kinds of books were available here.
We found books by almost all types of writers, ranging from children’s books to books for adults. There were also various English books. I browsed through several books but decided not to buy any as many of the books in the collection were already in my library.
My husband, on the other hand, started searching for books of his choice. He went through the stalls and finally found a book he liked. We purchased it—it was an English book titled The Old Man and the Sea.
After buying the book, we sat at the base of the Shaheed Minar to spend some quality time together. Many people were sitting around, spending time in their own ways. After a while, we bought some peanuts and enjoyed them while chatting.
We saw various types of people around us. A cotton candy seller walked past us, and a group of women sitting nearby were making flower garlands. This is how they earn their livelihood.
When we left the Shaheed Minar premises, we noticed a roadside shop selling Reshmi bangles. My husband encouraged me to check them out as he knows how much I love Reshmi bangles. I browsed through the collection, but since most of the colors were already in my collection, I didn’t buy any today.
As we walked further, we saw a man selling SIM cards. We decided to purchase an Airtel SIM, selected a preferred number, and bought it.

After that, we went to a date shop at the Shaheed Minar intersection and bought some dates. Dates are one of our favorite snacks. Once we were done, we kept walking and noticed various roadside shops. At a cosmetics shop, I looked at bangles for my mother-in-law but didn’t find any to my liking, so I didn’t buy any.
We then headed toward Kalibazar, where we saw a large flower shop by the roadside. My husband bought me some flowers as a gift. He knows how much I love flowers, so he surprises me with flowers every now and then.
At Kalibazar, we did some necessary shopping. Then, we went to one of our favorite sweet shops. There, we had hot sweets, parathas, and vegetables. The shop is very famous in Kalibazar, and we always go there whenever we’re in the area.
Finally, after eating, we took an auto-rickshaw and headed home. Today was a busy yet delightful day.
Don’t forget to let me know how you liked my diary in the comments. Thank you, everyone!
