Who Am I? History Mystery Challenge - Application for Steemit Challenge Season 24

Today, I'll share with you my idea for Season 24 of the Steemit Challenge. after reading about the call for fresh ideas, I've developed a concept that mixes history learning and fun game play "Who Am I? History Mystery Challenge".I will provide a demo of the game. The game is not finished yet, and I will complete it once I receive support and my application is accepted. The demo may look different from what I describe. I just want to clarify that I’ve only worked on it for 4 hours so far. The game is not finished, and I simply want to explain what I am trying to accomplish
My game is about history. Players will learn about important people who change the world. The game is six weeks . Every week, we look at one famous person. Players will do fun things like:
- Answer quiz questions
- Think about history
- Write stories about the person
This game will help people learn history in a fun way. I hope people will like my idea!
The concept
Each week, a detailed post about a historical figure will be published. Participants will:
- Read the historical account
- Complete an interactive quiz through our custom web application that works on any size device
- Write their own perspective on the historical figure
- Guess the identity of this week's mystery figure (name revealed at the end of the week)
How it works with steem
The application will be fully integrated with the Steem ecosystem:
- Users can login via Steem keychain or private key authentication
- Upon quiz completion and reflection writing, the app will automatically generate and post content to the user's Steem account
- This shared post will include quiz score results and the user's written reflection
- All interactions happen within the Steem ecosystem, strengthening platform engagement
Anti-AI Measures & fair play rules
To ensure authentic participation and combat AI usage:
- each historical post will have numbered lines
- quiz questions will reference specific line numbers
- participants must record their screen during quiz completion
- questions require contextual understanding beyond simple text copying
- one attempt per user - each Steemit account can only play once per week
Stop Cheating Tricks
People might try to cheat by making many fake accounts. I have two big ways to stop this:
Minimum 60 reputation required to participate, preventing new accounts from gaming the system and multi-account abuse
The system will contain a large database of questions, with 6 questions randomly selected per game to ensure variety and prevent cheating
Weekly Game Plan
- One historical person each week
- Different people from different times
- Mix of famous men and women
How to Play
- Read post about mystery person
- Do online quiz
- Log in with Steem
- Record screen
- Answer questions
- See picture slowly appear
- Write about what you learned
- Guess who the person is
Scoring System (20 points total)
- Quiz Performance: 10 points
- Points decrease for retakes
- Questions reference specific line numbers from the post
- Written Reflection: 7 points
- Quality of analysis
- Original perspective
- Thoughtful engagement with history
- Correct Guess for This Personage: 3 points
- Based on provided cryptic clues
Selection of Weekly Winners
Four winners each week will be selected based on our scoring system that balances quiz performance, quality of written reflection, and successful identification of the historical figure.
In case of ties, priority goes to participants who have not previously won.
Why This Challenge Works
- Educational Value: Participants learn about important historical figures
- Interactive Engagement: The quiz format with progressive image reveal creates excitement
- Creative Expression: Encourages original writing and critical thinking
- Community Building: Creates discussions about historical perspectives
- Anti-AI Measures: Design specifically counters AI-generated responses through numbered lines and screen recording
- Fair Play Guarantees: Reputation requirements and one-attempt rule ensure a level playing field
- Steem Integration: Seamless platform integration increases engagement with the Steem ecosystem
Conclusion
The "Who Am I? History Mystery Challenge" offers a perfect blend of education and entertainment, while maintaining the core structure of the Steemit Challenge. It encourages authentic participation, promotes learning, and creates a space for thoughtful discussion about history's most influential characters.
I'm excited about the possibility of bringing this challenge to life and engaging with the Steemit community through this journey through time!
Thank you for considering my application.

Interesting idea. Really need to see it in action to determine how AI-resistant it will be.
The MasterQuizMaster @the-gorilla has big buckets of experience on this now from his ongoing Steem Quiz.
Would be interesting to know whether he thinks this would stand up against the AI enthusiasts...
I am waiting for your response. I don't want to finish the project and then find it is not useful. This is my main idea: I need to make sure the idea is good before I finish the game.
I hope sharing this idea helps you think about it! I would really like to hear what @the-gorilla thinks because he has a lot of experience with the Steem Quiz. His thoughts could help me know what to do next.
Also, if the idea is accepted, I will search for users to join the team and share the history stories and quizzes from the admin dashboard
Is there a "manual" version that you could trial first? Even if it's slightly stripped back, it might highlight some challenges / solutions that you could save you having to rework some code.
AI is annoyingly good at identifying people from extremely limited information. I've rejected far more questions than I've asked thanks to the likes of ChatGPT! At the same time, it's great when ChatGPT confidently gives the wrong answer 😆
If that's possible, you could trial it as one of the Steemit Quiz Questions - just reply to the Quiz Master Question Tracker, with an appropriate question number and see how we get on.
With regards to people cheating through multiple accounts - a reputation of 60 probably won't help too much. I'm constantly catching people who have been reward farming with multiple accounts, some from as early as 2017. Since you're developing a custom web app, you could also capture all of the device, browser, etc. details which should allow you to identify duplicate / repeat devices.
How would the screen recording work? Presumably you wouldn't be recording a user's entire desktop?
I saw the questions in your quiz and read the correct answers. I tried to get the correct answer using AI, and it worked. The AI model has improved significantly; it now knows how to reason and think deeply, including using Chain-of-Thought (CoT) prompting.
We know we can't stop AI 100% for cheating. My idea is to provide easy texts about historical figures that anyone can read and use to answer quizzes, rather than making it troublesome for them. For example, if I have an easy exam, why would I need AI? In STEM learning, it’s important for users to truly learn. Helping users learn about new, famous historical figures , like through reading books, which is becoming less common these days, would be beneficial.
My approach to limiting AI is as follows: I won’t just ask for the answer but also for the line where the question is found, similar to what is shown in an image. The AI won’t provide the lines unless the user specifies what each line means. I believe that if the user reads the text, it will be easier to understand.
The recorded video will only capture the current quiz window. The user will choose what they want to record, and I only need a recording of the quiz window to understand the user’s behavior.
To prevent cheating through multiple accounts, as I mentioned in my blog, there will be many question in the database, and they will be provided randomly to each user. I can identify the agent from the header request, but that can be easily changed.
I can provide a demo when it’s possible.
Thank you for the input @the-gorilla.
At least one of you appreciated it 😆
hahah merci xD

Greetings, brother, I find this very interesting, and the best part is that you've considered protecting yourself against threats from AI-generated content. I wish you success; I'll be following that proposal.
Thank you, It's not only AI-generated content but also for those who have multiple accounts in each game, which will have many questions. It will show six questions randomly from these many questions
I like the fact that it's about history but that won't be easy since what we worldwide know about important people differs. Would I join? I can't because of recording the screen.
I wish everyone good luck and you most of all.
It's just a button in my app, and then it will record the screen. Is that hard?
@steemcurator01, what is the response from the Steemit team? I need the acceptance or refusal to complete the game.
