My First Entry on SteemFoods Community - Pork Steak Recipe 4/6/21
How have you been fellow Steemians! I wish you all a great day! Please allow me to post my first entry on this community.
My name is Roxanne Aying, 29 years old and happily married to @layaguinjerick. I am a mother of a 7-month-old little boy. We are currently residing in one of the beautiful Islands here in the Philippines. I am a subject matter expert in a financial institution for about 5 years now.
Cooking is my passion and it feels great to have found a community like this. I am looking forward to sharing more of my dishes and also learn anything from this community.
Today, I thought of preparing my family's favorite food for my first entry here. Let me show you step by step the process of preparing this Filipino dish.
Wanna serve your friend and family a delish flavorful dish?
Pork Steak is a Filipino dish derived from the world-known dish, Beef Steak, or just called "Steak". It is a dish made with thinly chopped pork marinated with soy sauce and lemon.
Since not all of its ingredients are available in my place, I just used the ones we have inside our fridge. I used calamansi since we do not have lime or lemon.
Preparation: 10 minutes
Cook time: 45 minutes
Below is the list of the ingredients I used.
- 1-kilo Pork thinly sliced
- 4 pieces small-sized red onion
- 7 small sized calamansi
- 1 clove garlic (minced or sliced into tiny pieces)
- 1 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
- a pinch of salt to taste
Cooking Instructions:
I. Combine your pork, calamansi juice, soy sauce, black pepper, and sugar in a bowl. Let it set and marinate for at least 1 hour.
II. Heat your pan in medium-high heat.
III. Pour in 1/2 cup oil in the heated pan.
IV. Add the minced garlic you have prepared until it turns golden brown. Remove the garlic from your pan and set it aside.
V. Using the same oil from earlier, saute onion then add the marinated pork and a pinch of salt.
VI. Simmer without lid for 5 minutes then add the marinade mixture.
VII. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir or mix then simmer again for another 20 minutes with lid covered.
You are free to add any of the ingredients like pepper, salt, or soy sauce to reach your desired taste.
VIII. Turn off the heat and add the sauteed garlic on top.
IX. Serve and enjoy this delish dish with your loved ones.
This has become my family's favorite. We serve this on ordinary days and even on special occasions. So simple and easy, right? This dish is best served with rice.
I hope you find this dish interesting to prepare using those simple and easy steps. That's it for my cooking today. See you on my next blogs.
