Realities of Godfatherism,My thoughts
Godfatherism. Godfatherism Is a system of governing in which we empower people just to satisfy our personal aggrandizement. It is especially rife in political business and bureaucratic settings, particularly in environments where nepotism and patronage are still pervasive. In reality, godfatherism is overlooking merit and seeing based on power rather than ability and achievement.
Experiences with Godfatherism
I had a cosmic taste of this godfatherism thing, thanks to the environment in a vertical, informal office I worked for. A relatively new co-worker got fast promotions and high profile assignments even though he lacked the technical skills and experience this co-worker did. Afterward, it was learned that he was a “protege” of a senior-ranking boss. His decisions and policies were often defended, even when he erred. The work environment turned toxic, many of my colleagues were demotivated … some even quit because they felt they were not being appreciated for their effort and contribution.
On Godfatherless All Opinions
Those who fight their way up from below, without a godfather, are people to be admired and emulated. Typically they’re tougher, ethical and hard working. They don't need power relationships and instead trust in their skills, determination and commitment, to be successful. True this is a slower, more fatiguing way to go, but you will be the better (and happier) for it. But social reality is often unjust. And even if of higher quality, those without “backing” are frequently left behind.
Summary of the Story and Predictions About Cabin Company
From the narrative presented, cabin companies are likely to face difficult times if the practice of godfatherism continues. When positions are awarded not based on capacity, but rather on patron-client relationships, the quality of leadership will decline. This can lead to declining employee morale, increased internal conflict, and a decline in overall company performance. Innovation will stagnate because space for growth is only given to those with "inside people," not to those with genuine ideas and expertise.
Without the major overhaul of the recruitment and promotion system, the company risked losing the most talented employees. Those who work without recognition will find places where recognition is more justly distributed. In the long term, the company's reputation will be tarnished, especially if the public or clients begin to realize that the company's success is not based on professionalism, but rather on exclusive power networks.
Conversely, if the company dares to break free from godfatherism and begin to implement meritocratic principles, there is still hope for recovery. It will take courage from key leaders to break the cycle of patronage, create space for transparency, and enforce performance standards. Only then can the cabin company have a healthier and more competitive future.
