Nigeria National Meetup - The Plans, Journey, & Execution
Hello Lovelies, it is another great moment to share with us my activities over the weekend. It is worth documenting here for long-lasting memories. Events like this come with so much enthusiasm and a feeling of togetherness. It is all about the NIGERIA NATIONAL MEETUP. A gathering of all steemit users in the country.
This journey of planning for this national meetup started about three months ago. This was the first of its kind in the country since its inception, and this was borne out of a sheer need to gather everyone for long-lasting impact and bonding. Having a national and collective front has been my purpose, and this remains unchanged for some of us who believe in a united blogging experience.
I could remember how this national plan started; the Uyo team, with @ngoenyi and @goodybest being their anchor, planned a city meetup to enable them to end the year just as usual. But on seeing this post, I quickly spoke with them and asked if I could come in and make it a national meetup. This would be best done as a national meetup to enable us to end the year on high notes. These thoughts were actioned and considered.
The first move was to constitute a four-man organizing committee to help put through this event. In this committee are @ngoenyi, @goodybest, and @benton3. This was a representation of all stakeholders and sponsors in this task. While xkool24 and benton3 represents the interest of "Steem4Nigeria", ngoenyi represents that of "steemkids & parents", and goodybest is "country steem rep". This was a tripod that completely complimented all we wanted for full representation.
The next in our plan was fundraising to accomplish this task. We started with post publications to state our event plans and we got the attention of the steem team with commensurate support though wasn't total enough to cater for the event bills. We had to look inward through individual donations as well as pull funds from the community to support this course. We achieved all these through the stated channels. An estimated value of 1,250 steem ($0.22) was used for this event without recounting personal commitments.
Down to 29th November 2024, those commuting from outside the city were expected to come in. I was part of this set of people, and it was nice embarking on these all-important and anticipated journeys. In company, I had @ruthjoe and @ninapenda who hopped into my city before the commercial bus drove off.
We had our meals served (dinner) while warm preparations were ongoing. Every Steemian is skilled and with this, we were able to handle everything ourselves. The likes of @alii001 was the chief slaughter as he nicely diced the chicken to sizable portions before it was steamed and used for the required pirpose. I also sighted @eveetim which was a silent and unknown chef. The meal served was tasty and quite spiced.
We retired for the day after a warm reception and dinner to our lodge. The next morning was the day. However, we went to the stadium to see how the workout was done under the coaching command of Ngoenyi. I was prepared for this so there was no need to bother myself beyond just looking at what is done. I didn't know there was a hidden plan by ruthjoe, sahmie, ninapenda, and bonaventure24, but the result was all good though. I had to join them as I share from the Akara and Bread that was present. This image should tell you that, there is joy in eating and sharing 😀.
Though a proper breakfast meal was immediately after we left the workout venue. We had yam pepper; my bad, I didn't remember to take an image of this sumptuous meal. We went back, rested before coming out for this great event at noon. It was a handful of activities.
In recognition, all available steem4nigeria management team, steemkids, and steem reps were asked to step out and have their seats at the decorated table. It was awesome seeing all of these steemit colours in display. So amazing! The business of the day started after all attendees were asked to introduce themselves. This was to proper recognition to all.
In the order of proceedings, boss Ngoenyi was asked to lead the floor by teaching us a topic that should motivate and give us more insight. Topic as handled by ngoenyi below;
The second article shared for the day was anchored by our amiable country steem rep, boss goodybest. She was able to speak thoroughly on the given topic, with ability to convey the needed message to everyone. The topic was;
Immediately she was done, I (xkool24) took over from her to present my article and the last for the occasion. I was able to talk about the need for expansion and growth among us. Emulating the exemplary strides of Uyo given their numbers and presence in the platform. If our various cities can have this done, we should be overwhelmingly present steemit to the world.
When we go done, we open the floor for Q&A to allow for feedback. It was interesting to get amazing feedbacks from the crowd before us. Lets itemize some of the questions here;
- Issues on power-down, blogging, and support
- Problems onboarding newbies using the steemit url.
- Issues surrounding mentorship charges
- Need to have more explanation on steem withdrawals to avoid releasing private keys to thirds for assistance
- Quest to know more about PUSS
- Issues bothering on support
- etc.

We entered another unexplainable section which turned out to be the spice of the event. We had the mystery box session and this was wow. A session powered by one of my own, @bossj23. A good and jolly fellow with great love. However, It was gift presentation time...
Other activities took part immediately after the gift Presentation. Food and drinks were given to the satisfaction of all that came around. Not forgetting the DJ hype that brought all the dancing steps on board to us. It was indeed awesome.
We had so many selfies and group pictures taken, and I wondered how all these would be represented here. Funnily, this was my first time seeing most of my team management members. We've so much interacted virtually, but this year's meetup was an avenue to see each other.

Thank you, Friends... We shall raise the bar next time.
Sometimes I lack words to express how I felt seeing you in person. It never occurred to me they I can ever see my mentor physically. What you've done for me on steemit makes you deserve that gift and even more. Though I had to prank you exclusively with it, I feel it's one of the best gifts I would have ever given you. Thanks for the organisation of the meetup. Without the meetup, I doubt the possibility of seeing you in person and even giving you such. I wish to be physically present in our next meetup, coming up next year. Won't miss it for anything

The presence of the boss completed the occasion. The outcome was least expected, and I'm glad I was part of this great national meetup. I can't express how joyful I was to travel with you and ruthjoe for this event and the fun was top-notch. Thanks for gracing the event! See you in the next meetup!

The meetup was a sure success. Never had anything like that. Everyone felt like a family. Many in the area are asking questions about what the gathering was all about, even the bike men.
It was indeed a witness borne to all about steemit.
Thanks for sacrificing your time and other resources to be around for this great occasion.
It is going to be a truly unforgettable moment till the nearest future.
The Big Ben, nice seeing you, brother.
