SC-S24W5: Anime.

We were taught different techniques on how to draw an anime
face. Which was almost like what we did last week.
But here, anime facial features are different from real human face features. For example: the eyes for an anime face are usually big. The nose either small or big depends on the gender whether male or female. The mouth shape too, usually small.
However , other features such as chin, hair eyebrows and lashes depends on how the artist wants it to be.

So based on all we were told and taught, I present my Anime drawing below;

These are the materials I used.

Ball pen(1mm)

Also I had this as company while drawing, because I didn't eat breakfast. So I was just using this snacks to stay focused;

So, I started by drawing a round circle, added the chin and making an horizontal line across the face. This horizontal line is a guide when I'm drawing the eye , eyebrows and the ear.
Then, I also drew the vertical line from top to bottom. This vertical line is also a guide while adding the nose mouth and also helps in eye placement at both sides of the face.
As you can see, I added a little sketch of the nose and mouth.
All these were done with the HB pencil. Normally done lightly so it would be easy to erase some mistakes.

Follow the horizontal line , I added the sketch of the eye, eye brow ,etc . The line crosses in-between the two eyes,while the eyelid and eyebrows goes just a bit above the horizontal line.

I aslo added a sketch of the nose and the moutth using the vertical line. The pointed side of the nose should always go just a little above the vertical line and come back down to it. Just like you've seen. This is because my image is not represented face straight,but facing sideways.. You can also see that the vertical line cuts the mouth in half. Now ,that's proper. In the first image I added a sketch of the headband and also on the right,I added a sketch of the characters hair and garment. Since, we're not dealing with a full body image today,I Just added the hand only to make it a bit sensible.

Here, I started applying more contract to the Sketches using the 0.5mm ball pen. I started withe the started with the sides of the face then the hand and on the right I did same to all features of the face. While doing this I was extra careful because I was dealing with pen not pencil. If there's any mistake, I won't be able to erase it.

When choosing a sample for the eye, I remembered that jesusnunez had drawn samples, so , I decided to pick one from there and try it out. So, first of all, I brought in my HB pencil to do a quick light sketch before usend the 1 mm ball pen to shade it. The 1mm ball pen is good for shading because
it has a wider width.
As you can see on the right which you can also zoom in the observe. I was done with the eyes.

I added a tongue to the mouth. Since it was open, I didn't just want to leave it blank like the ones I saw in jesusnunez's sample. I'm glad I had an idea of how it'll look like so I sketch it out ,then detailed it.

The picture on the right is the same as that of tge left , no much difference.

Above, you can see that I added my name in the headband, I I also shaded and detailsed the hair. I used both the 1mm ball pen to shade and the HB pencil. But I shaded with the ball pen first before the pencil. I noticed they when I do it that way, it comes out more darker than just using the ball pen alone.

Notice I've not talked about the charcoal pencil?
Okay the charcoal pencil came in whill adding some little shading and hatching on the chick and fingers. Then I used my fingers to blend it well. Before using the eraser to erase some places to make it look brighter.

When I was done with all the shadings, I used the 0.5mm ball pen to add more detailing on places that needed it. Then also wrote my username and the other write up you see there.
