My reactions to movies and books are different. Both are different mediums. I can read an idea on book and a movie can give me a possible visual experience of an idea. But both of these have powerful impact on the readers and the viewers. Both medium have the potential to make an idea incredible. Let us take a deep dive and see if an idea is better written as a book or novel, and which one I prefer.
Books provide me with a deeper experience through words
An idea can nicely explained through a book. Every concept or idea in the book encourages us to reflect on ideas, characters, feelings, or dreams, which strengthens our capacity for imagination. Although reading a book can take a lot of time, it will keep me engaged until I finish it, and my commitment and focus will remain strong until the end, and they may also have an effect on my other real-world activities.
Movies take me on a visual journey
Another excellent medium for sharing idea is a movie. It is amazing how visual experience can help me realize any idea, expression, character, or story without requiring myself to read pages for very long. A book story can be brought to life through the use of pictures, acting, and music to depict real-life action, drama, or incidents. This powerful visual aid is a quicker way to understand and learn.
Do you think, an idea is better written as a book/novel or acted out as a movie? And which do you prefer?
- My preference
It is obvious that both books and movies have some unique aspects.
Personally I like both mediums. But I will prefer books. Because it takes commitment and patience to read the words and turn the pages in order to understand the entire concept. It encourages me to explore my own imaginative world, which enhances my personal reflection.
The scenes in the movie may be more fictitious than in real life, and some scenes that are only good in books may be disturbing to watch in the movie. On the other hand an idea often comes alive and entertaining through visual experience.
But at the end of the day No matter what the format (book/novel) the idea is used to tell , it's all about how an idea makes us feel. An incredible idea can touch anyone's heart if it's written on books or presented through a giant screen. Maybe some idea need quiet pages of the book to explore or some idea may need lights, camera and action command.
Watch any movie adapted from a book or novel
I watched Dipu Number Two, a film based on Muhammed Zafar Iqbal's juvenile novel. The title of the novel was also the same. I watched this movie in my childhood on the national TV channel of Bangladesh.
This film remains in the hearts of 90s children and has an emotional impact on them. The heartwarming story of Dipu reminds us of our childhood, and we see a reflection of ourselves in Dipu and the incidents or adventures he faces.
Perhaps it was a fictional story, but whether you read it in a book or watch the film, the story appears real. It's a nostalgic movie for many Bangladeshi viewers.

It’s more than just a story about schoolboys; it’s about growing up, understanding emotions, and finding strength in unexpected places. I remember my older brother having this book, and I used to look at the cover and read it. I looked for this old book throughout our house but could not find it.
"Dipu Number 2" is the story of a schoolboy named Dipu. His father is a government official, and he is transferred to different locations each year as part of his job. As a result, Dipu has to change schools each year. He is introduced to a new school at the start of the story. Adapting to the new school was difficult for him. However, he develops very good friendships with everyone.
While trying to adapt to the new school, Dipu meets a classmate named Tarique, who initially becomes his rival. Tarique is somewhat evil by nature. However, as the story progresses, they become close friends, and we see how friendship can change the nature of a character.
Among the ups and downs of school life, adventures, fights, and friendships, Dipu learns a tragic truth about his mother, whom he thought was dead. His mother was not actually dead. This discovery leaves him emotional, but he faces reality with a courage that is truly admirable.
The story is told through small but meaningful incidents, which shape Deepu's understanding of life, relationships and growing up. It is a beautiful story of childhood, courage, compassion and transformation.
From the movie you have watched above, what can you say about the strength and weakness of the movie compared to the book/novel but if you have not read the book then tell us what captivated you the most in the movie and if you were to write a book on the movie how would that part be written to captivate the reader?
Strengths and Weaknesses of the Movie Dipu Number 2
- Strengths
Dipu Number 2 released on 1996. This film depicts what school life was like for students at the time. Though the visual effect was not so developed but how the life of a student and his adventure shown on the movie was awesome. It is one of Bangladesh's greatest nostalgic classic films.
The kids who performed on the lead role in this movie has did an awesome job. Because of their outstanding performances, this film feels like a true story. Every kid at the time might have imagined himself as the main character, Dipu. Credit for best acting must go to the kids who played the lead and supporting roles.
Another strength of this film was its beautiful storyline, which had emotional depth. A boy can sometimes understand more than an adult, as evidenced by this film. Dipu's struggle to adjust to a new school, his emotional story, and his adventure with his friends make this a fantastic story.
This film taught some valuable moral lessons, such as the value of friendship, forgiving others, patience, the ability to understand a situation and act appropriately, and so on.
- Weaknesses
Actually I didn't find so much weaknesses of the movie. However, I believe that some of the film's scenes lack quality for the less advanced camera.
Because technology was limited at the time, low-light scenes were not visually appealing. The scene on the water tank was a perfect example of this.
In the book, we can better imagine this scene, but on the big screen, some scenes are not as impressive as they are in the book.
What Captivated Me the Most in the Movie Dipu Number 2
What truly captivated me in the film was the emotional scene in which Dipu discovered the truth about his beloved mother.
Throughout the story, he believed she had passed away and his father is telling him that since dipu was child. For some reason, Dipu's father and his mother got separated. And so Dipu's father kept it a secret for so long that his mother was not alive.

After the separation, Dipu's mother left for America. However, she has been in the country for a few days and a mother cannot remain without seeing her child. When Dipu's mother expressed her desire to see Dipu to his father, he initially did not agree, but later he revealed everything about dipu's mother to Dipu and gave Dipu the opportunity to meet his mother.
The moment Dipu finds out that Tarique's mother has a mental illness is another emotional moment in the film. Tarique asks Dipu, will you tell everyone in the school that my mother is crazy. Dipu assures Tarique that he will never reveal this. This is a heart-wrenching scene.
In the first scene Dipu handled the situation quietly and maturely, which impressed me a lot. Instead of reacting with rage or tears, he kept his emotions contained and tried to understand the situation which is a lesson for me. That silence spoke louder than any words could.

Children can sometimes be more understanding than adults realize. Dipu had the opportunity in the second scene to inform all of his friends about Tarique's mother's mental illness and exact revenge on him. But he didn't do that. It demonstrated Dipu's inner strength and his ability to be a friend. This scene felt very real and left a lasting impact on me.
if you were to write a book on the movie how would that part be written to captivate the reader?
If I were about to write the book I would have add a few emotional stories to captivate the reader. I could have added that Dipu's mother has cancer or another fatal disease and wants to see her son for the last time. In my opinion this little story has the potential to add more emotional depth to the story.
I could have written that, Dipu is willing to assist Tarique with the treatment of his mentally ill mother. Bacuse Tarique was out of financial reach. This can convey a sense of friendship to readers who read the books and viewers who watch the film. We can support our friends during their tough times, which could be another moral lesson from the story.
Conclusion

The difficulties faced by an eighth-grader boy Dipu, a beautiful friendship story, some harsh realities of student life, Tariq's bravery and other themes are all deftly portrayed in Zafar Iqbal's Juvenile Novel "Dipu Number Two".
In the 90s, when Bangladeshi films meant a romantic story or an action-based movie, this movie was unique. This is a story that can never be erased from our memories. Let me tell you, the movie was so popular that it won National Awards in three categories.
I believe that this film will be especially appealing to teenagers who are still required to change schools each year due to their father's job. Both the book and the film versions of this story are heartwarming and remarkable.

Thank you for participating in this challenge of season 25.
Good choice of movie!
I think you didn't get the last task well. It's either you talk or strength and weakness of the movie compared to the novel if you have read the novel. But if you haven't you are to write on what captivated you in the movie and if you were to write a book on that particular part that captivated you how will you write it. You are not to write both.
