Do you think, an idea is better written as a book/novel or acted out as a movie? And which do you prefer?

It is easier to put down information or idea by writing it into a book but will require more skill and effort to make a video or movie expressing the same idea.
I agree that a movie will be more expensive to produce, but it is also more efficient at passing the massage, information or idea. We easily remember the things we see and hear, more than the things we read.

I prefer the movie to the reading of books. If school works were in a video form, more students in school would perform more better in their academics and in character molding.
The academic video will also help them to assimilate easily the idea being taught. Whereas reading makes the concept looks like an abstract.

Watch any movie adapted from a book or novel. An adaptation from a 1995 novel called Northern Lights written by Philip Pullman.

Here is the trailer of "The Golden Compass" movie. Please watch!

The 2007 Golden Compass was directed by Chris Weitz, he also adapted it into a movie. The outstanding characters in The Golden Compass movie are:

Real NameName in movie
- Dakota Blue RichardsLyra Belacqua
- Nicole KidmanMarisa Coulter
- Sam ElliottLee Scoresby
- Eva GreenSerafina Pekkala
- Steven LotonTony Costa
- Daniel CraigLord Asriel

In the movie, the people are controlled by the Magisterium. Everyone has an animal companion who is their guiding spirit and they are always expected to stay close to each other at all times, and as they grow, the spirit in the animal change and adapt with them.
Lyra's friends are kidnapped and she is going through treacherous landscape and encountering magical creatures while attempting to rescue her friends.

From the movie you have watched above, what can you say about the strength and weakness of the movie compared to the book/novel?

The Golden Compass differs from the Northern Lights in several key ways like scenes from the novel that are not included in the film and in some cases, the scenes are altered. In the movie, Lyra's travels to Bolvangar and Svalbard is backwards. The movie version is less barbaric compared to the book's ritualistic heart-eating description.

I don't know the rules of movie making and rating, but if I was a movie writer/maker, I would have written it the same way it is in the book. I would not water it down.

I am inviting the following friends to create time out of their busy schedule and share their experience of movies they have watched with us;
@bisdako @ukpono and @akareen.

Thank you @ruthjoe & co for this eye-opening contest.

This is actually pretty cool. But I might not make it to the deadline.

Anyway ... I remember this movie with my son. Very funny because he got a crush on Lyra.
I actually find the main character really pretty too. And it’s not just a kids’ story either. I got hooked by Lyra. She’s beautiful and brave. And the soul-as-an-animal idea? That’s wild. The author really has an amazing imagination.
