Contest| From pen to screen: How writing has changed in the 21st century!
Hello friends how are you all doing today I hope all is well and you all are having a nice and wonderful day, today I will be taking part in a contest organize by @ninapenda which is titled "From pen to screen: How writing has changed in the 21st century!"
Judging from your knowledge, What is "Digital writing and what is Handwriting?" |
---|
The history of writing started with the physical activities which we engage in for the purpose of representing figures on a surface to make meaning which of course is "Handwriting", so now the difference between Digital writing and handwriting are;
Digital writing |
---|
Digital writing this is simply the type of writing that is being done with the aid of technology like computer, phones, tablet etc
Handwriting |
---|
This is the type of writing that involves the physical engagement of our hands in writing and representing figures on a surface for the purpose of sharing out information.
Which do you use more everyday: handwriting or digital writing? Express yourself. |
---|
Hmmm, already this is a question that we all know the answer, as an artist studying fine art in the university I hardly engage in writing rather I only draw with my pencil and pen to be precise, so amongst the two categories the one I engage in the most is digital writing.
All thanks to Steemit I have been writing digitally with my phone on a daily basis for like two years now and trust me it has become a kind of addiction that I can't do without.
For memory retention, creativity, expression and effective learning, would you go for digital writing or handwriting, Why? |
---|
Well in this case since most of my reading and research are through the Internet and even when I was preparing for my jamb examination I did all my reading digitally so I would say that for memory retention, creativity and effective learning I would go for digital writing
Should schools still initiate handwriting in this digital age? Do you think it would profit the young ones? |
---|
Well abolishing handwriting from our school system would definitely be a bad idea, though we are in a digital world but at least handwriting isn't something that should be suspended indefinitely, because in school it helps the students to be able to develop patience while writing.
When a student wants to copy note it will take lots of time and in school lazy students do not always have complete note rather the hardworking ones that had the patience to sit and copy the not will have the complete note to read and pass the exams
Generally writing helps develop patience and also help develop a student fluency with pen which makes it easier for them to express themselves through writing and art
State the pros and cons of each; digital writing and handwriting. |
---|
Now for the pros and cons let us start with digital writing before moving over to handwriting

Pros for handwriting |

- It builds in a person a sense of being patience
- It helps a person to be able to express his or her self with written words
- It helps in reading, because as you are writing you are reading which helps in skimming through the general knowledge of what is being written
Cons for handwriting |
---|
- It consumes lots of time to be able to cover a page
- It is difficult to execute mostly for people who has a busy schedules
- It requires time and lots of commitment
All that and many more mentioned above are some of the various pros and cons of both digital writing and handwriting and I hope that you all find my article interesting and I will like to invite @eveetim, @dave-hanny & @emmaboy23
