Talk about the main idea of the movie

The idea behind the movie "LOCKED" is focused on the warfare between Eddie a thief and William a vigilante, who trapped Eddie in his car to torture him. It shows the consequences of one's actions when making choices and typing to take justice into your hands.

The trap

Eddie, a thief desperate to fix his van to pick up his daughter from school finds no success, on the way wandering to get help, breaks into William's car, a Dolus Luxury SUV, which he was trapped in there.

William's Phase

William who was suffering from terminal cancer, built the modified vehicle after the previous six break-ins, to trap Eddie and punish him for his criminal act. He took the law upon himself to punish lawbreakers.

Conflicts

The movie portrays the psychological warfare between Eddie and William, as he tries to escape while William uses the automated car features to punish and torment him.

Describe the plot and setting of the movie.

The Plot

Eddie Barrish was unable to fix his van, to pick up his daughter, Sarah from school, because he had no money. He even stole a mechanic's wallet and used the money to buy lottery tickets, even attempted to borrow money from people, but to no avail. He went into the streets in search of parked or abandoned cars to rob.

After all this he was still unable to pick up his daughter from school, he called to apologize, and while on the call he came across a black Dolus Luxury SUV car which was unlocked, without hesitating he went inside to search for anything valuable he could steal.

When he was done and about to leave, he tried to open the door but it was locked, unknown to him that it was a modified car, he tried everything possible to unlock the doors, but he did not succeed. He went to the trunk and found a lug wrench and a jack, without considering the one that may fit the situation, he grabbed the wrench and tried to destroy the door to free himself, but still no success, he got injured while doing so and was bleeding.

Still struggling to escape, he heard an incoming call in the car, he refused to answer it and continued fighting for his freedom, he finally answered the call which was from William the owner of the car, William while on the call was also watching Eddie through hidden cameras, explained to him that he built the car to trap thief's like him after it was broke-in six times previously.

Eddie, after trying everything he could, brought out his gun and shot the glass, the bullet bounced back to him and hit his leg, unknowing to him that the glasses were bulletproof, dark-tinted and soundproof to prevent passes from hearing him.

William was still in the conversation, while Eddie was struggling with the pain and bleeding in his leg, it was unbearable and he passed out. Eddie woke up the following day and found that his wounds were treated, yet he was still locked in the car.

William came on the call again and tried talking to Eddie about his daughter, Emma, Eddie refused to listen, he was tormented with electric shocks and freezing air conditioning with loud music.

Eddie tried to apologize to him for breaking into his car, but William wouldn't listen. William was suffering from terminal cancer and wanted to use it as an advantage in rendering justice to Eddie. He even punished him more by increasing the heat temperature of the car, claiming to bring hell on him.

Eddie was dehydrated and starving, so he began begging William for water and food, William saw that as an opportunity to get his details, and Eddie was left with no choice but to disclose his details. William then turned off the heat and showed him where to get a bottle of water.

While lying down, he found his lottery tickets, scratched one of them and saw that he as won and would have gotten all the money he needed if he had been outside the locked car. William then decided to help him with a cookie which was kept hidden in the glove box, Eddie reaching for the cookie, found out he could get access to the car's electrical system under the glove box and began trying to lose the circuit with his foot, since the camera could not capture that area.

The following day, Eddie was so dehydrated and had no other option than to drink his urine. During nighttime, he began exploring the car, and suddenly it went on, he thought he had successfully turned on the car, not knowing that William was piloting the car remotely. William took him for a ride in the city at a very high speed, they came across two muggers, and Eddie begged him to spare them but he crushed them to death with his car. He began driving the car again at a very high speed, Eddie tumbled inside and was knocked out.

He woke up the next day and saw that William had taken him to the school where his daughter, Sarah attends, he then noticed that William had used his details to locate his daughter. Sarah was on her way back from school, William tried to knock her down on the way, Eddie was screaming yet no one could hear him, not even Sarah, he was helpless toward Sarah. Eddie had no other choice but to end William's game, he tried to shoot himself but discovered that the gun had been unloaded.

William then spared Sarah and drove away, Eddie was so furious that he destroyed the cameras and smashed the dashboard display, he also thought that there may be no way out of William's trap, so he decided to send his daughter a farewell message, since there was no network coverage within the car, the message could not deliver at that moment.

William pilots the car to the location where he awaits to finish up Eddie's punishment, he gives him zip ties to cuff himself, and when Eddie tries to disobey him, he forces him with electric shocks to do it. William lights a cigarette and makes Eddie take his last taste of it, William reloads the gun again and drives them out of the city to a far distance where he will kill him and dispose of his body.

On the way, he revealed to Eddie how his daughter, Emma died through a robbery attack. Meanwhile, Eddie was still aiming to disconnect the car's electrical system, and also making William furious, making him hit his face several times on the dashboard.

Eddie succeeded in taking out power from the car, and the SUV went off the road and tumbled along a rocky small hill, William was still holding the gun, he opened fire by accident and the bullet bounced on the bulletproof glasses and shot him behind.

Both of them were unconscious, Eddie suddenly regained consciousness and tried to free himself, doing so William gained consciousness and tried to reach for the gun, Eddie freed himself and attacked him, just then the unsent message was delivered to the daughter, Sarah and she called the father immediately, asking of his well-being and asking him to pick her from school, he promised to pick her up from school. The car was catching fire already and he begged William to unlock the doors, but William passed out without rendering any form of help to him.

Eddie reached out for the bag at the rear seat, which William had brought in earlier, full of dangerous tools. He grabbed a hammer and used it to smash the rear windshield and free himself. A driver passing by the road helped him and took him back to the city. He went back to the mechanic's shop with his lottery ticket hoping they would fix his van in time, his daughter, Sarah was already awaiting him at the school when he couldn't wait any longer for the van, he bought a bicycle and rode to the school to pick up Sarah, she was so happy to see her dad and both reunited happily.

The Setting

The filming of the movie ”LOCKED" took place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Which was done in and around the city, inside the Dolus Luxury SUV car and also on the streets of Vancouver.

If you were the Director of the movie what would you do differently?

Well, everything about the movie went perfectly, but the part where William smashes the two muggers to death with his car would have been more informed, like bringing in additional characters, like the police to investigate the case.
In the process of the police tracing the case to William, he would have also been on the run, making him understand that he is also a lawbreaker.
