My Neighborhood Watch # 76- Reporting Events Around us//

Steem greetings to everyone in this community, welcome to another edition of my neighborhood watch episode #76, Let me use this medium to appreciate the organizer of this contest in the person of @Xkool for his consistency and dedication towards publishing this contest on weekly basis and all the contestant who find time to share events happening around their environment you all have done noble.

I'm here today to share with you the event happening in my environment. Here's the headline

A lot of events usually take places during Christmas range from cultural display to interfamily football competition to village by village competition. Culture is dynamic with their uniqueness, it's worth celebrating. So my way going to market I came across two different masquerade; the black one and baby masquerade that is friendly.

In those days the black masquerade use to be scary because of their weapons but due to changes in our environment and in culture they don't harm people again you can comfortably watch them in Uyo here but I don't know for other villages

Black masquerade called Ekpo in my dialects

Nowadays they are friendly too, but when they are drunk with Palm wine,the could be dangerous to avoid

We usually call this type Ekpo ntueyien; meaning children masquerade

When a child is stubborn back then, they usually scare us with this masquerade and you will plead not to do it again, but now everything has changed no matter what, children will not be scared instead they will want to touch and follow them.

Lastly, parents have started preparing their children for Christmas by buying Christmas balloon, toys and many more.
