Fairly Used or Brand New Items? Which would you rather go for?
Who doesn't like good things? However, we may choose to change our minds because of the price. This doesn't mean the alternative isn't good; sometimes, it can even be the best choice!
What do you understand by both terms (fairly used / Brand new product) |
---|
Fairly used is a term often heard in Nigeria to refer to second-hand items such as home appliances, gadgets, clothing, and electronics that are still in good condition and sold at lower prices than new ones.
Many people, including myself, think that fairly used items tend to be more durable and last longer than brand new ones. For instance, when we see cooking pots in the market, we often feel they are more authentic because they have been used by someone else before us.
Brand new refers to items that have never been used or opened by anyone. These products typically come in their original packaging, sealed and boxed, until you purchase and unbox them.
Personally, I prefer brand new items because I once had a negative experience with a fairly used product. It ended up being a waste of money, and I eventually had to buy a brand new item.
Have you ever found yourself struggling to make this decision, If so, What did you go for? |
---|
It can be challenging to choose between new and used items. I prefer to decide at home before heading out to shop, as it makes the process easier for me.
On the day I decided to buy an electric kettle for my kitchen, I ended up choosing a used one. Although it wasn't my initial plan, I asked many questions and gathered positive feedback before making my final decision. In the end, I opted for the used kettle.
Why did you go for a fairly used or brand new item after careful considerations |
---|
The cost and quality convinced me to change my mind, and the seller was very persuasive, so I decided to buy it. While I've heard many positive things about second-hand items, I don't always choose them for everything.
For certain home appliances, I prefer brand new ones because some used items are already worn out and may not last even a month.
Was there any regret for the choice you made? |
---|
Yes, I experienced regret the day I purchased a used fan from my customer. He assured me that the fan would last for several months, but it barely made it through one month before problems began.
I found myself taking the fan back to his shop repeatedly for repairs. Eventually, I took it to a different electrician for help. This went on for weeks, and I grew frustrated, ultimately deciding to return it and request a refund.
To my surprise, he refused to give me my money back, so I ended up buying a brand new fan after wasting my money on the used one.

Saludos cordiales.
Muchas Bendiciones..🙏🏻

MODs Comment/Recommendation:
I do tell people that buying fairly used products sometimes are risky because there's no guarantee. But I have also seen lucky people who bought fairly used and they are enjoying it.
