One thing I come to realize about movies or films is that they are not just entertainment, but something that carry stories, emotions or sometimes sometimes a real life lesson lessons that stay with us forever. But what am curious about is that while some movies get all the fame and popularity there are others that quietly touch our hearts but don’t get the recognition they deserve. That's why in this post I will share five movies which I feel they are underrated and why they should be talked about more.

The five movies
  • Crazy bestie
  • Coming to America
  • power rangers
  • Ben10
  • House of Gaa

Why I think it's underrated

Crazy Bestie

This Nigerian movie really caught my attention, and I first watched it on Facebook. The blogger that posted it make it even more interesting to watch by given it a catchy title: They love their selves but they can't get married to each other.....Crazy right?

The worst thing I realized about this movie is that many people do not know about it. If you asked me about it I will tell you that story is fresh and relatable, and the acting is solid, and that makes me feel like a hidden gem that deserves more spotlight.

Now if we look at the Nigeria movie industry, there's new movies every week, which makes the movie, Crazy bestie underrated as Nigerian movies are so many, and only a few make it to big platforms or get viral. Crazy Bestie has that real-life vibe that connects well, and I wish more people could watch and appreciate it.

Coming to America

Guys, if you have time , do well to stream this movie. The movie is acted by Eddie Murphy and it's a movie I grew up hearing about, but the younger generation rarely streams or watches it today. If your looking for love over culture, then you get the one to watched. It’s a funny, heartwarming story about love, identity, and culture clash.

Now ask the the young people around about "coming to America" most of them will not know what you're asking about because it’s old-school, and in this era new movies get all the attention. But for me, this movie still brings laughter and good feelings every single time I watch it.

Power Rangers

I remember dreaming about how I became a power rangers, or is it mastering their transition. Believe me red rangers is also the favorite. Who didn’t love Power Rangers as kids? Unless you never get to know it. A group of heroes fighting evil, saving the world — it was exciting and inspiring.

But now, everything changed, it seems like it faded away from conversations and media hype. The movie and series had great energy and teamwork lessons, but now, hardly anyone talks about it. I will say it's underrated because it shaped many childhoods back then but doesn’t get the respect it deserves today.

Ben 10

Ben 10 was something I heard about a lot growing up, though I never got the chance to watch the full movie. That time, I didn't even know what's mobile phone not to talk of watching movies online.

It's a cartoon movie about a kid who can transform into different aliens which at that time sounded amazing. Despite the fact that it was popular back then, I think it’s still underrated because it has not been recognized anymore.

The movie was our childhood superhero, and we were likely to act or want to be like them. I feel like the story could still inspire kids if it was brought back with a fresh look. I mean I still want to watch it.

House of Gaa

This is the first yoruba movie I watched and I was like...this is good. This movie is a about about the wicked chief of warriors. I remember watching it and being hooked by the intense drama and culture it showed. The problem is, it’s rarely seen outside Yoruba-speaking areas which makes it limits its audience a lot.

So I think it's underrated because most of the local Nigerian movies don’t always get distribution beyond their regions, which is a shame because they tell unique stories rich with culture and lessons. If you to find what am saying, stream it online.

What to get don't to improve it

To me, the biggest problem is exposure. Many good movies stay hidden or underrated simply because they don’t get wide distribution or have a strong marketing. To change this, streaming platforms should add more local and classic movies with good subtitles (which is very important for audience to understand the movie)so everyone can enjoy them.

I also consider making use of social media campaigns, influencer shoutouts, and community watch groups to help spread the word. I realized that most of this movie are not even accessible in some platforms like YouTube. If we can get them on the popular streaming platform believe me it will the recognize it deserves.

Then for some kind of movie or local local movies; House of Gaa I mentioned the best way is to make sure that it been translated and promoted outside native regions so as to bring more recognition.

Conclusion

I really appreciate @ruthjoe for hosting this contest about the underrating movies because remind me that good stories exist everywhere — not just in big-budget films. Sometimes,to find the hidden value, we have to dig for it and share with it others.

Supporting and promoting these movies is a way to honor the creativity behind them and bring fresh voices into the spotlight. To my advice to everyone reading this post is: Next time you look for a movie, try an underrated one — you might find something you will never forget, just like me.

I will like to invite @ukpono @joymm and @kwinberry to participate in this contest
