Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 76: Ad ice to my younger self
As we grow older every day, there are some things that we do that sometimes don't even think and reconsider before taking any decisions. My own experiences during my childhood age are some how on track, I was the baby of the house, the last child out of 8 children and I was well pampered and I was living in the hostel and the only regret about my youthful age is that I didn't experience life and that makes me sometimes regret what I am going through now in life. If I say I have not learn my mistakes I will be lieing.
Have you taken some irrational decisions while you were much younger?
When I was a little bit younger that is my teenage age, I have made a lot of silly decisions without thinking twice that right now I am regretting all. I can remember one day that my school matron called me and ask me to go home and inform my parents to register me for science school examination, and I did exactly what she ask me to do then my dad was so happy that he gave me the money I needed for the registration immediately, I took it to my matron and she registered me for the exams and when it was time for the examination , I pay my way from the village to abak local government and wrote the exams, so when the results came out, my name was not on the notice board and all my thoughts was that I fail.
So one day while listening to the radio my dad has my name been mentioned as one of those that score higher and as the results of that I was given scholarship to go to another science school and not the saint Mary science school at abak that I opted for. The school I was posted to was very far and I told my dad that I won't go because of the distance, I did this not knowing that I was the one losing, my dad pleaded and I gave him reasons I can't go to the school and when he was tired he let me be. This decision was not the best for me because I sent myself from being going to school on scholarship and at the long run I discovered that I would have participated in another opportunity but because of my last decision my matron was angry with me and she didn't let me get involved in any thing scholarship in the school.
Do you think you're now wiser and better than you used to be?
Who won't be wiser after growing up, right now I am over wiser, I am well matured now that I know what is good and what is bad, I know the best decision that I can take without regretting.
Right now before I take any decisions no matter how angry or happy I am, I will have a rethink before executing any decisions. As we speak, I can't let any opportunity to pass me, I will make sure I make use of it at any given time.
What advice would you give to your younger self or a younger generation who are already in that stage of life you were once in.
To my younger self and the younger generation, what I will advice now is that no matter the situation you find yourself, don't be too quick in taking decisions, if you are in the mist of confusion and you don't really know the right part to take, just seek advice from elderly ones, from the one you know they might have gone through similar situations, if you do this you will be able to take the right decisions without regretting.
CONCLUSION
Suffering from indecision while younger is very common, at that stage if they don't have a good mentor or guardians, they can take wrong decisions that they will regret tomorrow. So as times goes on we learn from our mistakes and we improved on what ever we are doing.
