Confused Society
Greetings my steemit family. How are you doing today my friends. I believe you all are doing great, may God name be praised. Something inspired this post and for some same days I'm trying not to talk on it but it kept bugging my mind that I decided to share my thought with you guys.
Something kept coming to my mind when I read the comments on Pricilla Ojo wedding to her Tanzanian lover. They kept commending how respectfully behaved, well mannered, caring she is and also praising her mother for raising her so well.
I ask myself, is these the same set of people that always throw shade at single/divorced mothers? The same set of people that always associated a bad behaviour of an individual to saying they were raised by a single mother? They make it seem like single/divorced mothers lack the capacity to raise their children right. They make it seem like children who do not grow with their fathers living with them lack proper upbringing. That it is only fathers that can instill manners on a child.
I ask myself again, which time do fathers have to inculcate manners on a child? Is it when they go for their business in the morning and come back at night when the children has probably slept off they can teach the children manners? Is it when they travel for business trips and stay for weeks, months or years they can teach the children manners?
I cannot seem to understand the basis of their assumptions. Especially in my country Nigeria where they believe that Fathers role is only to bring money for the upkeep of the family while mothers are the ones at home taking care of the children and the home.
I had an experience when I taught in one primary school close to my house. In the morning as I was trekking to the school, I saw Mrs. Ike with her face covered with a scarf, I greeted her but noticed her jaw was broken, I asked her what happened and she said it was a result of a fall. I reached the school, we did our morning devotion and the pupils with their teachers entered the classes to commence teaching. As I was teaching, I noticed that Mrs. Ike son, who is one of my pupils is not bright as usual. During break Ike didn't go out to play with other children as he normally does, I called him and asked what the problem was and he told me that his father beat his mother again and cause her injury. I cheered him up and he later went out to play. I'm now imagining what will this young boy grow up to become in such an environment, he might start believing that is the right way to treat a woman or otherwise.
Families that still live together does not guarantee good parenting because in some cases the children grow up with toxic behaviour/traits because their parents are living together but not at peace with each other.
Good parenting does not come from only families that are living together. It is an individual thing, whether single, divorced or still married can raise a child well if they are dedicated and intentional to do so.
The burden of bringing children up does not have to weigh only on the mothers alone, fathers have a crucial role to play too. Whether the two parents are still living together or separated does not have to undermine their roles in their child life.
If every parent would execute their duty in raising well behaved children and with God's willing the world will be a better place.

MODs Comment/Recommendation:
Well detailed post, parenting should not be one sided it's good for both mother and father to train their children, in order way round there's no guarantee for raising a good child it can be from single mother or father.
