Greetings my dear friends of Steemit and Steem4Nigeria
It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @zulbahri and @chiagoziee to participate in the contest.
The spring season has for a long time been a cherished time in India. Its arrival is marked with a number of festivals and cultural activities to celebrate vitality and invoke good harvests.
One of the country's most popular festivals is also a Spring Festival. The festivities around the seasons are basically dated based on the Hindu calendar and it's normally between mid Feb to Mid April.
Actually the most important festivals of india are Holi and Diwali. Though Dewali is a mega festival, the most popular festival may be a controversy between the two. Benefit of doubt goes to Holi.
Yes Holi is a dip rooted Hindu religious rituals but it has been seen many Muslim empires also celebrated or encouraged holi including Mughals.
The last Nawab Wajad Ali Shah who exiled from Awadh who settled in Bengal. He was known for his love of the arts and his secular nature, celebrating Hindu festivals like Holi with great enthusiasm, even during Muharram.
So Holi is the most secular festival of India and considered as National Festival. It strengthens the bonding among people of faith.
Holi festival of colours is interestingly celebrated throughout the world wherever there are Indian. Now a days many consolate offices are participating in Holi.
It is a festival of exchange of gifts and sweets apart from making life more colourful putting colour to each other. Colours are of two forms, one is dissolved in water and spread to other by water gun or squirt gun. Another in pwder form which is applied by hand in exposed parts of body while physical contact takes place.
Normally the centre of attraction is the Radha Madhav. There are Hari Naam Sankirtan (Chanting Hari Naam).
In our locality a carnival also organised by Sirish Bagan Sarbojonin Harinaam community. People used dance and play holi.
