It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @zulbahri and @chiagoziee to participate in the contest.

The Kolkata Derby is considered Asia's oldest derby. The Kolkata Derby between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal was played at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, Assam in the ISL 2024-25 season last Saturday.

As usual it was a 9th victory of Mohan Bagan Supper Giant in a row in 10 matches. Jamie Maclaren the Australian footballer scored the only victory goal within five minutes of the match as he scored in the last Derby match. In the Rest of the match East Bengal missed two chances within a six yards box and basically tried to resist attacks of Mohan Bagan as they played with 10 players. The first yellow card shown to Shoubhik chakraborty was doubtful, but the second yellow card was genuine for which he had to leave the ground. Two obvious attempts to goal were saved by the East Bengal goal keeper.

However Mohan Bagan luck was flavoured when the referee overlooked the handball within the penalty box. If it was given the match could be drawn. However the coach of Mohan Bagan Jose Molina wrote in his X handle"When you don't win, you look for excuses".

On the same day Mohamedan SC defeated the second spoter of ISL tally Bengaluru FC which is eye shore to many fans of Mohan Bagan. Because they were not satisfied with the body language of professional football players of their team at Guwahati. Mohamedan was also a very strong contestant of the city. It was always a triangular fight among them in earlier IFA shield and leagues.

Due to the shifting of the match for security reasons from Kolkata to Guwahati Mohan Bagan had a huge monetary loss because they targeted a ticket sales of 20 million USD as organiser of the match. Instead they had to spend the shifting of the team to Guwahati.

In prior to ISL East Bengal own the tally of overall meetings stands at 391 matches where East Bengal have been triumphant 127 times while Mohun Bagan 125 times, which also includes walkover wins.
