The Highlight Of Our National Meet-up
Dear Steemit Team, & Friends
I want to share with you the outcome of the most memorable meet-up that took place last Saturday. It was a general meetup for all Nigerian users, and we recorded a huge success! I announced this meetup 4 months ago, saying that it was to connect with members of our community, share ideas and learn from one another. And let me tell you, it was nothing short of magnificent! We color everywhere blue!
At first it was supposed to be my city's meet-up only planned by Ngoenyi and me until our 2 country-based communities [Steem4Nigeria and Steemkids&Parents] indicated interest in sponsoring and making it a national meet-up for all Nigerian users. Though I was a bit nervous about the outcome at first, it ended in glory! Yes we had a great turnout of more than 100 persons attending with over 70 Steemians!
We all had a lot of fun and got to know each other better, and left feeling revitalized and determined never to give up come what may!
The meetup was anchored by @johnmitchel. He was the master of ceremony, and I must confess he did a great job 💯 he welcomed everyone and invited everyone to take a sit, and then we started by introducing ourselves. After that, some dignitaries were called to the service tables including @xkool24 and @benton3, the admins of Steem4nigeria, @sahmie, @ruthjoe, @okereblessing @ninapenda @eveetim and @bonaventure24. The admin of Steem kids and parents @ngoenyi, then @eliany, one of Steem representatives, and myself.
Then our beautiful @ngoenyi briefly discussed what Steemit is all about and why Steemit because there were interested ones among us. She explained that Steemit is a social media like no other, that it rewards both content creators and curators, and that one doesn't need thousands of followers or likes before one gets rewarded, as long as you're talented and creative then you're free to onboarding, Steemit is secured, your account is safe as long as you don't compromise your keys. The part I love most about her speech was when she asked different users in the audience why Steemit; it was thrilling to hear answers like "A platform I can learn and earn at the same time."
Then, (it was time for me goodybest to discuss) I started by appreciating the audience for honoring our invitation, it shows their commitment to our community and their eagerness to learn and share their ideas. We explore ways to enhance our Steemit profiles, improve our reputation, and gain visibility. All this falls back on quality engagement with others.
I explain the new engagement method for all and urge them to join anyone that interests them and learn new skills that would have cost them a few thousand for free and even be rewarded for learning. I also invite them to apply as teachers, or if they know someone who would love to teach us a particular course or who is interested in learning a particular course for free to join our amazing platform.
I emphasized the importance of powering up because it's the only way we can grow our account. I urged everyone to support one another through meaningful comments and upvotes.
Another user, our amiable @xkool24, did a fantastic job explaining ways we can promote Steemit, taking advantage of other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. He was impressed with the turn-up and sincerely commended Uyo City Steemians; he said a national meetup like this would be held yearly and that they would sit up in their cities so that they could host everyone in their cities too. He encouraged everyone to be supportive, newbies to take advantage of the available mentorship and avoid steeming in isolation.
Afterward, the floor was open for questions, and we answered all to their satisfaction. The questions center around:
- Issues with power-down, blogging, and support
- Problems onboarding newbies using the Steemit URL and getting verified on the newcomers community.
- Issues surrounding mentorship charges.
- Need to have more explanation on Steem withdrawals to avoid releasing private keys to third party for assistance
- The quest to know more about PUSS coin. And
Related to support etc.
Benton3 did a fantastic job explaining Puss, and explanation on Steem withdrawals, and the need to secure our account. I explained questions concerning signing up newbies and their verification process, and Ngoenyi answered questions concerning issues of mentorship charges, while Xkool explained issues of powering down, blogging, and support.
@Bossj23 did noble; he gave us gifts that included portraits, wristwatches, power banks, and designer slippers etc. That was so thoughtful of him and I want to officially tell him thank you🙏 I will never forget your kind gesture!
After the presentation of the gifts, Benton3 officially closed the occasion for us, thanking the Steemit team, the sponsors of the event, and everyone who honored our invitation. They will surely be a grander event than this next time! Food and drinks were shared before now.
I hope you enjoyed hearing about our
national meetup and all the fun we had. I wanted to share some of the pictures with you, so you can see our emotions for yourself!

After that, we danced, and the DJ played some cool music that breathed life into the occasion. We danced and enjoyed ourselves, and we drank wine, ate salad and chicken, soft drinks. We got to know ourselves.
I'm grateful to all those who made this event successful, I appreciate the Steemit team; Steemcurator01 and Steemcurator02, @pennsif, @patjewell, Bonaventure24, Okereblessing, Eveetim, Bossj23, who support this meetup in form of generous up vote, steem token and cash support, I appreciate you all ❤. To my fellow sponsors; Steem4Nigeria, and Steemkids And Parents, I appreciate your financial support means a lot! I appreciate all those who traveled down from a far to attend this eventful program thank you so much for honoring the invitation Xkool24, Ninapenda, Sahmie, Ruthjoe, Bonaventure24, and Kuzboy. To all those who prepare the meal, I love you❤️. To all my city's fellow I can't heart you more! @ngoenyi you'll remain my Steemit paddy❤, your support means a lot to me, thank you ❤
The occasion was brought to an end by 7: 30PM; it was such a wholesome gathering that gave all users, especially the new ones, a real sense of community. Everyone wishes we do this more frequently, probably a Global meet-up and I hope for the best!
I hope Nigerians will continue grow stronger, I just hope we can be better than Today, I'm just hoping!
Yours Truly,
@goodybest.
