Steemit to the World: Nigeria National Meet up a Family Reunion
Introduction |
---|
Hi friends and lovers of Steem4Nigeria, I welcome you all to my blog. It was an awesome weekend this last weekend in the Steemit world because Nigerians on the steemit planet had the biggest event ever in the history of Steemit in Nigeria.
The plan for this meet up had begun since July. At first, it was meant only for Uyo steemians. As it was, our leaders saw the need for Nigerians on steemit to come together.
On Saturday 30th November 2024, it was a reality for Nigerian Steemians. It was a convergence of the great and mighty steemians from Nigeria.
It all began on Friday 29th, November, which was termed "pre-meet up day or meet up eve" by some steemians. It was the arrival of our leaders from other cities in Nigeria to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the city for the meet-up.
As if it was a joke before or an unserious event, by the time the information came that our visitors had landed, the impact of the event began to unfold in my eyes. Not just that, our big bosses in town @ngoenyi and @goodybest updated us on the meetup WhatsApp page about their activities and purchases against the D-Day.
Amongst those who came from other cities are my big bosses whom I hold in very high esteem @xkool24 my oga kpata-kpata, @ruthjoe my teacher, @ninapenda, the queen herself, @sahmie my friend. Those who were on-ground, making sure everything set, our big Mummy, @ngoenyi, @benton10 sir, and our delectable lady @goodybest.
To mention but a few, other sweet souls who were at the event are @eliany and @okere-blessing. @bossj23 who is known for his great contributions both virtually and physically, was unavoidably absent at the venue but was virtually and socially available. Not to forget @bonaventure who ventured from almost the northern part of the country to attend the event, against all despite bad roads and the faulty vehicle he boarded.
The event in totality was fun because @bossj23 decided to extend his philanthropic prowess to his mentees, friends, family and bosses. As if it were just a prank, a big box was brought before us where he, @bossj23, sent gifts to some steemians. Quickly, the items were brought out and names of Steemians were read out, and their gifts were numbered and attached to their names. Interestingly, @steemnurse01 who is his biological mother, was the first receiver of the gifts. It was all colourful as steemians received gifts ranging from power banks, shoes, enlarged photo frames, wristwatches, jewellery, plates, spoons and even toilet paper. This very gesture made the event very unique and colourful.
It wasn't just a casual event, almost all the steemians turn out with matching t-shirts with their usernames well written out. With that, we could recognise our friends even without asking or looking for them.
Before the giveaway, by @bossj23, we had a series of talks presentation by our leaders, to make sure that we learnt a thing or two about the steemit. One of the very interesting talks was delivered by @ngoenyi. The lecture was based on the importance of Steemit, @goodybest and @xkool24 took turns to also make presentations, while @benton10 did a great job by answering questions and giving clarification raised by some steemians.
That was followed by entertainment and picture sessions.
From my personal perspective, the meetup was necessary because:
- It reunited us with our virtual friends. I met my friends @missyleo @tripple-e @patudoh @bela90 @blessedbee and many others.
- It revealed the true identity of many users of the platform, authenticating that they are really humans.
It brought new ideas, knowledge and a deeper understanding of this esteemed platform, Steemit.
It bonded the friendships that were created virtually overtime.
It created an opportunity for us to appreciate those who have been of great support in voting, recommending and mentoring us virtually.
It gave the opportunity to create or establish new friendships and relationships.
It gave steemians the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications about the matters that bothered them, where they could not find satisfied answers.
Finally, do I recommend such a gathering next time, maybe in another city? Yes, I believe I'm not the only one agreeing with this.
If you weren't at the event like my friend @lhorgic who I really wanted to meet in person, we'll sure meet at the next meet up.
This is me thanking @alli001 @kidi40 @emishael60 @bessie24 @fortwise09 @wizzyboy @kemylove @steemnurse01 and many others for all their time preparing the mouth watering dishes. Not forgetting all my bosses whose efforts brought the event to reality.
I liken the event to a family reunion. People who never heard of Steemit did because it was so spectacular.
In all, it was a great success. Everyone returned to their families safely. To God be the Glory!
Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
Following the pre-event activities right From the kitechen, I could see that the event was really successful. With the raw meat I saw from the off-line post in the kitchen, you guys added some flesh.....
Thank you, I hope you won't miss that of next year.
This title you gave me is amazing 🤩. It was a nice moment with you and I love your smile, they are unique. This meetup connected me to everyone and I know now that we all belong to same family on this platform. The food was delicious and the taste was superb. You did an amazing job ma.
See you in the next meetup!
