Guys, you know what's up? We often mistake a boss for a leader and vice versa but my experience of 3 years working under six different people. I've observed certain things. That there is a difference between a boss and a leader. I've observed that:

  • A boss demands, a leader requests.
  • A boss orders, a leader inspires.
  • A boss takes credit but a leader appluseds.
  • A boss dictates, a leader motivates.
  • A boss says "I", but a leader says "WE". A boss says "GO" but a leader says "LET'S GO".
  • A boss tightens his speech while a leader is transparent.
  • A boss makes decisions without input, while a leader involves his team.
  • A boss focuses on tasks and productivity while a leader focuses on people and development.
  • A boss authorizes, a leader empowers. A boss solves problems alone but a leader seeks ideas.
  • A boss blames workers for a mistake, a leader takes responsibility for mistake.
  • A boss controls, a leader delegates.
  • A boss gives feedback but a leader coaches the mistakened.
  • A boss Inspires fear but a leader builds trust and credibility.
  • A boss operates on autocracy while a leader does more of democracy.
  • A boss emphasizes on individual work while a leader foster's teamwork.
  • A boss stifle's creativity while a leader encourages it.
  • A boss avoids risk while a leader takes calculated risk.
  • A boss resist changes while a Leaders adapt to changes, wether physical, structurally, or financially.
  • A leader rewards team members while a boss might not.
  • A leader shows empathy and understanding while a boss doesn't.
  • A leader is humble and approachable while a boss is arrogant and disrespectful.
  • A leader is open to learning while a boss acts all-knowing.
  • A leader is flexible while a boss is rigid.

So I urge you to be a leader, who serves as a guide, a coach, an adviser, a counselor, a role and better still, a friend. And not a boss who is the opposite of all this.
