Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 73: Together as One

Hello my steemit family, how are you? I call you family because I genuinely feel we are. One of the best things that happened to me last year was joining the steemit platform. In this post, I will share with you how steemit connects people from different places, the things that make me feel part of the steemit family, and how new users can be helped to feel welcomed.

How does Steemit connect people from different places?

---

Steemit is a universal platform; as such, people from different nationalities connect through this platform. This is a social media Blockchain, and as we know, social media is for communication and connection; steemit is not exempted. When we read posts from other users that interest us, we are moved to comment, and we may eventually exchange contacts; this has been happening.

Steemit platform holds meetups annually, where users from different countries would meet in their countries. Though such meetups aim to promote steem, they also connect steemit users. For example, the just concluded national meetup in Nigeria connected users from different parts of the country. Users came from different states In the country to attend the meetup, and I was thrilled to meet Xcool24, Ruthjoe, Eveetim, triple-e, Ninapenda, etc. If not steemit, I don't know if I would ever meet such individuals.

What makes you feel part of the Steemit community?

When I signed up for the steemit platform newly, what motivated me was short encouraging comments from various community moderators; they expressed their genuine interest in my posts, and where I did wrong, they lovingly corrected me. I also received orientation from my mentor which guided me on how to make quality posts. What motivated me the most was the support, I felt welcomed.

What makes me feel part of the steemit platform is when my friends comment sincerely on my post, correcting where necessary and suggesting the way forward when necessary. When I receive support, I feel part of the steemit community; to me, my work is seen, and I need to exert more Ernest's efforts in writing posts.

Finally, when I receive advice from reputable steemit users, I feel loved and part of the community.

Why is supporting each other important on Steemit?

I guess the platform is designed such that we support each other. We support each other through our sincere comments on their posts and voting on their posts.

Supporting each other on the steemit platform is very pertinent because it would encourage every one of us; we feel welcomed and believe we have a family on the steemit platform.

If we don't support each other, we may not grow, and the platform will not be fun. Without support, some users would be discouraged and leave the platform. Imagine if you were the only person on the platform; what would it be like? Not what we dream of, so let's support one another and grow together.

How can we help new users feel welcome?

---

What new users need is orientation, a guide to making quality posts, commenting on other users' posts, and voting on other users' posts. They need that direction to become effective on the platform; very necessary.

Giving them the Aforementioned guide is as if we are showing them how to fish instead of giving them fish all the time. Let's show them the way, I think this would lead to genuine rewards.
