SLC-S25/W2-Movie Snapshots|Book to Screen (The Day of the Jackal)
Hello friends, trust you all are doing great. Welcome to another week of movie review. I so much love this engagement. I love watching movies. In fact, it is one of my hobbies.
This week's movie review is capped book to screen. Many of the movies we watch were inspired or based on a Novel or book. Thus the directors and the actors can act out what was written in the book. But are the movies usually exactly as the book from which they were copied from?
I will be exploring this subject using the tips of the contest Book to screen.
Do you think, an idea is better written as a book/novel or acted out as a movie? And which do you prefer?
Concerning this question, i would prefer not to answer a yes or no. Why? Because an idea can not be realized at all if it is not put into a book, novel or script.
Every idea starts with a script or a book so to speak. Without putting it in writing, it would be difficult to actualize and visualize the idea. No wonder every movie starts with a scripting. Once the scripting is not good, then there will be no need to move ahead and conceptualize the idea.
It is only after the idea is into story or book form that the thought of acting it comes into question.
I like reading movie books especially detective and crime books but most times the thrill and excitement i derive from reading the books, the words, diction and charismatic attributes used that fits the action or actor portrayed are entirely lost when it is acted out in the movie. Maybe the choice of cast affects the actual matching of the action to how it is described in the books.
On the other hand, there are some books that you may not fully understand unless it is acted out as a movie. For instance, when I read about the emperor that declared 365 days of games and feeding program for all the Roman citizens at the gladiatory ground, I understood the scenario more after watching the film Gladiators.
So it all depends on a particular movie. My submission though.
Watch any movie adapted from a book or novel
The movie that I watched which was adapted from a book is called The day of the Jackal. This was named after the book it was adapted from.
It is a thriller, crime and detective book and film.
The book was written by Frederick Forsyth about a lone wolf assassin who was a threat to almost all the big countries in the world.
The assassin was very elusive, lived his life by carrying out dangerous assassination of high profile targets. With each kill he is chased by a tenacious British Officer) (Bianca Pullman).
One of the reasons why it is difficult to catch him is because every operation is carried out in a different country, he plans it thoroughly, sometimes it may take him months, considers the bottlenecks he may have, before finally executing it. He is very careful and does his best never to leave loose end. This always keeps him ahead of the officer investigating him.

She finally closed down on him, traced him to his house in Spain suburban area but at the end, Bianca and her partner was killed. This was the end of Season 1. We are still yet to see the release of Season 2.
From the movie you have watched above, what can you say about the strength and weakness of the movie compared to the book/novel but if you have not read the book then tell us what captivated you the most in the movie and if you were to write a book on the movie how would that part be written to captivate the reader?
The Strengths.
^ The movie directors did their best to follow up on what was written in the book. The book was very descriptive via the use of words. The director did very well in putting into character the words of the book.
^ I also appreciated the ability of the movie director in adding more storylines to the book and the award winning original movie made by
Universal Pictures in 1973. It should have been a 2 hour movie, but now it is a seasonal movie. The Jackal is well alive, the Officer in charge of the case is dead, so we are waiting to see what happens in the next season.
^ The suspense you feel when reading the novel can be felt also while watching this movie. You will always be keen to know how he was able to escape and flee from dangerous situation. You may find it difficult to get u once you start watching the movie. I read the book the entire book on few hours because of how captivating it was.
Weakness
° I was expecting *Bianca * the British Officer to solve the case, only to be disappointed at her death. Well I think that is to extend and expect the next chapter of the movie.
° They did their best to match the descriptive nature of the book with actions. That is the area that I will want them to work why shooting the next season.
° The person they used as the Jackal should have been someone that look more sturdy, with good body built, good physique and charismatic. The actor used looked like a weakling and feeble.
° The Jackal never had a family. He was ghost in the book. However, in the movie, he had family.
Conclusion
It is a movie worth spending your time to watch. Despite some editing errors, if you are a lover of detective movies, you will really enjoy it.
I invite @ngoenyi, @benson6 and @bossj23 to join in this contest.
Hi friend. Detective films are better when seen in movies than when read in books. But naturally, there will always be important differences.
Regards.
Thank you for participating in this challenge of season 25.
You made a good choice your selection. Although I have not seen this movie.
Was expecting to see a copy of screenshot of the book/novel where this movie you talked about was adapted from.
Over all you did well.
Thank you for your rating. Sorry that I did not upload the front cover of the book. Here it is.
