Hello 👋 everyone, tracing on my neighborhood, it has been an exciting one this recent week, most especially in my dear department of science education. We had an interesting inter-level football competition called "The President Marathon Cup." It was an honorable one and organized by our departmental president to celebrate his 100 days in the office.

This very competition was set up in such a unique and interesting way. It was named marathon reason being that all matches were played in one day. The 100level students played their match against the 300level students, while as well the 200level students played against the 400level students. Then the winners of this first round face each other in the final round to finally determine who will be champion and then go with the gold 🥇 Medal and trophy.

A Fierce Battle on the Field

The matches were nothing else than being described as very intense as each of team gave their best effort. It was certainly not just about playing football; it was truly about teamwork, unity, and determination. Each level really fought hard, refusing to give up. But Surprisingly, all matches ended in penalty shootouts!

In the first match of the day, the 100level students defeated the over hyped 300level students in a very thrilling penalty shootout.

As well, the same thing occurs in the second match, the 200level students also defeated the old papa's 400level students of the department through another penalty shootout of the day.

This automatically meant that the final match was between 100-level and 200-level students, a very shocking result for the senior colleagues, who had all been eliminated in the first round by the junior Colleagues.

The final match though was a very tough and intense one. Both teams did played their hearts out, and once again, the game ended in a penalty shootout and indeed all matches for the day ended in penalties. In the end, The 100-level students registered their name in the history book of the department by winning the cup! They eventually became the first-ever freshers in the department to win the competition in their first year in school.

The Gold medals 🥇 were awarded to the 100-level team for their desired victory.
Silver medals 🥈 as well went to the 200-level team as runners-up.

While the 300-level and 400-level teams left the stadium 🏟️ empty-handed after the early exits.

A Grand Celebration

The event as I earlier say was not just about football alone; it was more of a big celebration!

Many of the emeritus presidents of both the department and the Faculty of Education were in attendance, along with other invited guests in the school including the SUG Director of Sports.

The staff adviser of the great and largest department had the honor of taking the kick off for the tournament.

The commentator was so amazing, using more of his classic words that made the games even more exciting for the spectators around, another there with a little touch of Hypeman spirit made the fans go crazy in support of their team. The DJ as well played more lively music throughout the event, really keeping everyone much entertained. It was a memorable day for everyone of the department present as well as the guest.

*My Final Thoughts*

The President Marathon Cup was a huge success to all. It helps brought students together, created a more competitive spirit, and showed that indeed anything is possible with teamwork and determination. The seniors here may have been shocked by the outcome of the day, but the juniors proved that age does not always determine the strength! It was truly a week filled with much fun, surprises, and an history-making moments.
