Contest| From pen to screen: How writing has changed in the 21st century!"
I quite agree with the host, @ninapenda that the current trend in the use of digital tools like the computers and the smartphones, are waving off the use of pen and papers in the writing space. Earlier before now, there hardly comes a digital device that one could think of , to put ideas together. All thought and expressions were fully made using a handwritten format.
No matter how popular and ease the use of the use of digital devices may be used to communicate, handwritten communication gives more room for creativity and be expressive.
Nonetheless, I would be looking at the points raised by the host to make more inputs here.
First, I will begin with digital writing. Digital writing involves using digital devices like the computers or smartphones to organize or prepare documents for online view and delivery. Letter writing, images and other related text contents could be used to prepare, communicate and deliver information.
For effective use of digital devices, one need to learn how to use them to prepare and deliver an information.
Handwriting
Handwriting is the art of using the papers and pen to prepare information. The use of pen and papers to prepare information starts from the little age in school. The School serves as the best platform where handwriting are learnt.
To begin with, letters are joined together to form words that could be written into the book. It continues till the person becomes conversant of joining letters to form written words.
I Use Handwriting More Everyday
In my working place, I come across printed documents which requires action to be taken on them. Even though the documents are printed using digital means, the information on the document needs to be treated or responded to by the use of pen. Here, the acknowledgement, acceptance, approval or rejection of requests applications, would be clearly written with pen.
For memory retention, creativity, expression and effective learning, I would you go for handwriting
Handwritten documents makes memory retention, creativity, expression easy and enhances effective learning. Take for instance, with handwriting, one begins to learn how to combine letters A to Z to form meaningful words. It sparks fun to see a teacher holding a student's hand to learn how to write or draw objects using the pencil, pen and papers to a memorable writing that is unique to that person.
Another point here is that with handwriting, objects and images could be drawn to show creativity, make expressions and convey meaning to audience.
Schools should still initiate handwriting in this digital age, it would profit the young ones
Writing begins from learning how to hold the pen to join words together to form meaningful words. This means that prior to using digital device to write, learning how to join words together must have taken place by using handwriting. This would be difficult to achieve using digital devices. This is why schools should keep initiating and prioritizing handwriting.
The following are some of the prons and con of handwriting and digital writing:
Uniqueness: Handwriting makes it possible for everyone to have a unique writing style that differentiates the writing from others. Digital writing lacks uniqueness.
Cost: When handwriting is compared to digital writing, you discover that it costs little or nothing to have a handwritten information. This is unlike digital writing where one must buy digital device, data and other things that would be needed before putting up a digital writing.
Accessibility:
Handwritten materials are easily accessible to anyone and does not get damaged. This is unlike digitally written document that not everyone could access it easily.
Having come up with the above contributions made in the community, I come forward to invite the following persons to participate in this contest:

Thanks for joining this contest, handwriting is very important, have you asked why formal letters or application letters are mostly handwritten? That is to show the uniqueness in it.
