An educative contest organized by @ninapenda is amazing where each and everyone of us are expected to write something meaningful so that it can benefit every readers.

Judging from your knowledge, What is "Digital writing and what is Handwriting?"

Writing on a different topic can improve our knowledge. In fact, it is something we must keep doing on a daily basis to improve our grammar errors. Digital writing is an online writing format where we make use of our computers and smartphones to deliver information to various users. I use my phone to participate on the Steemit platform, which requires using our fingers to write.

On the other hand, handwriting is the process of using tools like a pen and paper to write words down. We use our hand, whether left or right, depending on the one we use to form a word. Through handwriting, we communicate effectively with each other, allowing individuals to develop skills.

Which do you use more everyday: handwriting or digital writing? Express yourself.

Although we are in a technological era where most of the things we do are digital, I make use of my smartphone to send messages to friends and family, especially on urgent matters. If it's handwriting, it may delay the message reaching the receiver. The only thing that can stop me is when my smartphone switches off due to low battery. When I was in primary school, I used handwriting until I graduated from university.

I can testify that it improved my writing skills as well as my spoken English. To say the fact, I make use of digital writing to respond to my friends in WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, as well as on the Steemit platform to respond to notification messages.

For memory retention, creativity,expression and effective learning, would you go for digital writing or handwriting, Why?

I prefer digital writing because I can type faster, especially when participating in any contest on Steemit. When faced with a difficult question, I Google search for it and apply what I understand to the question. The material I read still retained in my memory. Writing on a paper with my hand will cause shaking, leading to pain and sweaty palms during exams.

I can express myself perfectly when using digital means of writing without creating fear in my mind or experiencing hand shaking when writing for customers. Another advantage of digital writing is that it can be easily edited compared to handwriting, which may look rough every time you make an attempt.

Should schools still initiate handwriting in this digital age? Do you think it would profit the young ones?

Digital writing is increasingly being used by a majority of people. In fact, some school teachers and lecturers in Nigerian universities organize online classes for their students to provide convenience. I can remember during COVID-19, when the majority of students were not allowed to go to school to prevent infection. Online classes were organized so that students would not fall behind in their academic activities.

Although in Nigeria, handwriting is still being used in many public schools today. Only the government can help the situation by switching to digital writing to improve study. As long as students have a device, they can record the lectures they receive or store them on their computer. They can then open the file and read whatever they want from it, instead of having a notebook that may get lost at the end of the day.

State the pros and cons of each; digital writing and handwriting.

The pros of digital writing are stated below:

• Digital writing that you have already stored or saved in your computer, laptop, or smartphone can be easily shared quickly with anyone, and you can also change the file name at any time. In fact, you can retain the original document in your computer storage for a future purpose.

• When it comes to digital writing, typing is very fast compared to handwriting, which consumes more time.

• Another advantage is that your computer device can back up automatically, so all your documents are safe.

Cons of Digital Writing:

• Not all of us can afford to buy a computer or laptop because it's very expensive. So, people who do not have means can buy a notebook at a cheaper rate and jot something down.

• It allows distraction when some of your friends visit you, or one of them is knocking at the door, causing you to easily forget what you were doing at that time.

• A died battery on your laptop or computer cannot allow you to continue on the task you are doing.

The pros of Handwriting are stated below

• A notebook is a very portable item that can be easily moved from one place to another, especially if they are not too many.

• No distractions when using your hand to write something down, unlike notifications on a computer or smartphone that allow distractions.

• There is higher retention of the material because it is not easily erased.

Cons of Handwriting

• There is no backup when you lose the only book you have or if it is destroyed by fire.

• Erasing can be very difficult to correct, and you may even tear the whole page when trying to erase a mistake.

• Handwriting consumes a lot more time than typing on digital devices like a computer, laptop, or tablet.
