RE: Thoughts on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
It has been a while since I read it, but I think my reaction was to be a bit frustrated about the structure of the plot. A lot of the character conflict was about whether or not Harry had put his name into the goblet, but since we knew that he didn't it came across as frustrating false tension to me. On balance I enjoyed the story, but making that non-mystery such a central aspect seemed like an odd choice to me.
That was something that bothered me as well. I think it was mainly to help with character development of the 3 protagonists.
