RE: Ich mach' jetzt ganz groß in Wolle... (3) - Die Wäsche

Shearing is hard work for sure. I only did it for a day on a course a few years back but that was enough.

My neighbouring farmer is moving his flock over to EasyCare Sheep that shed their fleece without the need for shearing.

I thought it was a joke when he first told me, but I have checked and they are a real commercial breed now...

Do you have these sheep in Germany ?

Oh yes! Once a year I help shear a herd of about 100 animals. Afterwards I'm exhausted, although I don't shear, but "only" catch sheep and stuff wool.

EasyCare Sheep

I have heard of this breed, but do not know if it exists in Germany.
We keep dairy and meat sheep, not wool sheep. The annual shearing is "only" good for the care and welfare of the animals.
In Germany wool is hardly produced commercially (see my comment to @ubongudofot). Unfortunately.
