One of the signs used to determine the maturity of a woman is her ability to have her menses. in most indigenous tribes in Africa. Ghana to be precise, the moment a young lady has her first menses, she is considered a fertile woman capable of bearing kids for her family and community at large. But is not always so that women have their menses on regular basis. There are situations or circumstances that can render a female in her reproductive years not to have her menses. Circumstances such as pregnancy and sometimes during the early stages of breastfeeding. Aside from these situations, when menstruation does not occur at the time when people normally expect it to, it is termed as Amenorrhea.

Amenorrhea is, therefore, the absence or abnormal cessation of menses.

Yes, it's difficult to give birth if you are not having your menses. Due to all these issues, there is therefore the need for Amenorrhea to be discussed thoroughly.

There are two types of Amenorrhea: primary and secondary amenorrhea. If by age 16, you haven't reached menarche and have normal secondary sexual characteristics, you have Primary Amenorrhea. Secondary Amenorrhea occurs when established menses ceases to occur without any physiological reason usually over six months.

PRIMARY AMENORRHEA

A major cause of this type of amenorrhea is an imperforate hymen. There is a blockage at the opening of the vagina that prevents the outflow of blood.

A major sign is a bluish bulging membrane at the opening of the vagina.

Some people may be diagnosed as a result of a family history of delayed menstruation.

SECONDARY AMENORRHEA

With this, menstruation may cease for some of the following reasons; physical stress, extreme weight gain, or loss, blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, and mostly hormonal imbalance.

Amenorrhea rarely poses any threat to the health of the patient but sometimes, it may signify a significant underlying condition with respect to the reproductive. Primary amenorrhea affects one's ability to have a baby. wheres secondary amenorrhea increases the person's risk of osteoporosis.
How then does one even treat amenorrhea? Is there even a cure for both types of Amenorrhea?

Depending on the cause of the primary amenorrhea, a cure may be possible. Primary amenorrhea caused by hormonal imbalance and reproductive malfunction can be cured once the underlying condition is eliminated. Secondary amenorrhea treatments include; eating fruits( like watermelon, slightly unripened pawpaw, banana, and pomegranate) regulating body weight, regulating weight, and avoiding the use of antidepressants.

In conclusion, the unbearable pains of menstrual cramps should not be the reasons why you will not go for treatment. When you are not menstruating It will affect you in the long run.

It is a fallacy that menstruation can occur through the palms. I hear most ignorant people saying that.
