"Civet is a protected animal in my country (Bangladesh)"

In our village, at one time, a carnivorous mammal, the civet, was caught in the poultry house at night. You can understand that I am going to write about an endangered animal in my country in today's competition. At one time, this civet animal (local name Bagdash) was very common near our house.

This civet is a resident of the forests of Africa and this animal comes out to hunt at night or sometimes goes out to hunt in unpopulated areas. Currently, this animal is completely absent in our area, which can be said to be extinct, not endangered. Although this animal is now occasionally seen in the border area with India. If we calculate the number, it will be very few in Bangladesh.

As the main reason for the extinction of civet, I can say that it was eradicated by farmers in our area to protect their poultry. The civet animal is considered an enemy for farmers' poultry, pigeons, hunting and is killed. A bigger reason for the civet to become endangered is the current decrease in the rate of forest deforestation, which is the reason for the killing of this animal because it cannot remain invisible to humans.

I searched on Google before writing this article and what I found could be a big reason why it is endangered. A very expensive perfume is prepared from the glandular juice of this civet, due to which it is likely to be hunted and smuggled. However, I have never heard of any such incident in my country.

Although there is a law, it is completely ineffective in the case of this animal because in the villages, households kill it to save chickens and ducks, due to which there is no awareness to save this animal. The law does not reach these rural areas. According to Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Act of Bangladesh, 2012, the civet is included in the list of protected animals.

There are laws that protect the animal, but the reality is that for unknown reasons, all the laws are not able to play an effective role in wildlife conservation. The law provides for rescuing these animals and releasing them in sanctuaries in national parks and creating a suitable environment for their reproduction. Also, mobile courts for wildlife conservation should be set up to fine and punish violators of the law.

I invite you @ulfatulrahmah @azwar82 @abdullahw2 to participate in this competition.
