There is a friend of mine that absolutely loved those manager games and I tried to get into them but it just wasn't my piece o pie. A lot of other folks did like them though since they are some of the best selling games ever.
I'm a total data geek and love football so these games were pretty much designed for me but I can completely understand it not being for everyone. I could waste the rest of my life sat in front of a screen playing it - I've always dreamt of being able to pause time (without aging) so that I can get a few hours in whenever I want (along with many other less geeky things - like sleep).
