in Steem Gaming5 years ago

The Nintendo 3DS is one of the most famous handheld systems for its long years on the market. Since its launch in 2011 it has captivated many users with its innovation, betting on a 3D screen which was fashionable at the time, this and many other features made it a favorite of many people.

Because it is a portable console that is more than 9 years old you can buy it at a very affordable price in 2020, however, you should know that there were several redesigns over time, improving certain aspects, below I will tell you what they are.

Nintendo 3DS: This is the first version of the system, and it's usually the cheapest if you get it second-hand.

Nintendo 3DS XL: This is the largest version of the 3DS, but it retains the same features. The only difference is the size.

Nintendo 2DS: In this version, the possibility of folding the system and the 3D effect of the top screen were eliminated.

New Nintendo 3DS: This is a version that fixes several problems with the 3DS and adds a small second joystick on the right for certain games.

New Nintendo 3DS XL: It retains the same features of the New 3DS, but changes the screen dimensions which are larger.

New Nintendo 2DS XL: The latest and definitive version that takes full advantage of the processor's performance, eliminating the 3D effect of the upper screen.

When we know all its versions we will see if it is worth to buy a Nintendo 3DS in 2020, for that we must inspect what we can do with this handheld system, this way we will know if it will cover our gamer needs.

Extensive catalogue

Nintendo 3DS has one of the most outstanding catalogues at present, there are still developers who program video games for that handheld system. You'll find all kinds of genres, which is great because you can choose any game you like.

Good graphics

The 3DS despite being over 9 years old still has very good graphics for today, this is a factor that will depend on the game you're playing, some take full advantage of all resources showing some incredible graphics, while others may visually disappoint you.

Retro compatible

One of the most appealing things about the 3DS is that you can run the entire catalogue of its predecessor called the Nintendo DS, a system that has incredible hidden gems. Thanks to this feature, you'll have two handheld systems in one, saving you a lot of money.

Playing emulators

Thanks to third party software, the Nintendo 3DS is able to run many different retro system emulators such as the Atari 2600, NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis and many more, however, to do this it is necessary to modify the 3DS software, a risky process which if you make any incorrect modifications you can damage the system.

New production

Thanks to the latest versions you can get completely new, having the possibility of having official guarantee. You can buy it in different reliable portals like Amazon, where you will find standard versions or special editions.

The 3DS is still alive, is a console with which you can enjoy a wide universe of video games which are currently of excellent quality. If you are buying a second-hand one, make sure that its cameras, microphone, screens and joysticks are in good condition.

A Nintendo games console will still be valuable in the future if kept in good working condition.
