Computer lesson 6 – COMPUTER PROGRAM

Hello Kids,

It’s another lesson on Computer Studies for this week and it's our Sixth class, with another interesting topic.

Can you still remember our topic for this week?, Let Me remind you, We are going to talk about Computer programs and it has a lot to do with our previous lesson.

Normally We were Supposed to take this First before taking the Previous topic, but Since we had already done that, nothing really Spoiled. Let's get to our today business.

Computer program

A computer program can be defined as a general list of instructions that Commands a computer on what to do.

Another Name for a Computer program is Computer Software.

Without Computer Program, the Computer System cannot Work. These programs are stored in the memory of a Personal computer. You cannot actually see them but you can use them to do what you want to do.

Recall that the computer is made up of hardware and software.

The hardware is the physical components that we Can see and touch and the software are the programs that run on the hardware and help us use the hardware.

Computer Programs can be sub-divided into two which are:

• The System
• Application Software

Last Week we Considered One of the Examples of a Computer Program Which was the Operating System, Can you still remember?

The operating system is another Name for system Software. Recall that the Operating System provides a platform for other software to run in it as we discussed last week in our previous lesson.

Those Programs that run under the operating system are Called Application Software. This application Software or program helps us to perform specific Such as Word Editing, Presentations, Graphic Designs, database management, Programming, and Multi-Media Entertainment.
