It was another wonderful opportunity to put smiles on the faces of the kids in this amazing project that is titled: A Child, * a million smiles 😊😊😊😊*. Every week presents a different opportunity. This past week was an amazing one because the school welcomed cooked food.

It was Okere-blessing blessing, one of my team members that linked us to the school that is named: 22nd Century Schools which is located along Aka Road here in my city of residence. . She helped us make the enquiries and related the information as much as she could. After ascertaining the fact that they would prefer cooked food over uncooked food, I quickly made arrangements to get the foodstuffs ready.

We proposed to be there on Wednesday and as such, on Tuesday, I went shopping for the stuffs. I bought rice, and all other ingredients for the rice including bananas because I wanted to add fruits to it. Yes, there wasn't any protein like egg or meat because they are very expensive and there wasn't enough cash for that. But I made sure that there was enough vegetables in the rice. Vegetables like carrots, and others.

It was jollof rice, so, what I did was to prepare the gravy in the night before the Wednesday. What I mean was that I prepared the tomatos that I will use for the rice, frying it with pepper I already blended, along with a little spice.

On Wednesday morning, it was my workout day and so, I woke up earlier than usual so as to be able to prepare the food. This time around, I decided to refill our camp gas cylinder instead of cooking with firewood because of my eyes. I started having eye aches lately and as such, I didn't want to increase the pain.

As soon as I woke up., I put water on fire for perboiling the rice, when it was warm, I added the rice after washing it with cold water. Then I began getting other things ready like the onions, the seasoning cubes, the vegetables and others. As soon as the rice perboiled, I washed it and kept it in a sieve to drain the water. Then I divided it into 2 batch since I was not going to use the type of pot I do use when cooking on firewood. It could have been once. After the division, I mixed the already prepared tomato mix with the remaining ingredients, added water that will be enough and ensured that the salt is ok. I allowed the water to boil and then added the rice and allowed it to cook properly. About to bring it down, I then added the veggies. I did same with the remaining batch.

The food in progress

I was done before 7 am and then I freshened up and went out for workout. There, my clients were already waiting for me. I was late but I apologized and we began that day's programs. After the programs, it was time for football. We equally played and stopped by 10 am. The time for the food aid was to be by 11 am.

Football moment

We rushed home, quickly got ready and zoomed off. The location was far away from the usual location where we had been given out these aids. So, I went with bossj23, alli001, kidi40, chichigirl and benton3 in the vehicle. We arrived late anyways but thankfully, we met Okere-blessing and goodybest who were already there waiting for us.

On arrival

I spoke with the school headteacher since I hadn't met her for the first time, she asked some questions which I answered. Then they arranged to bring the kids out for the aid.

We made the kids feel at home first, start with Okere-blessing who was formerly a teacher there, she did some kids singing and dancing with them, while I took over to do a little sporty demonstrations for them since it was also there sports day. It was fun. They were all happy. Then we began sharing the food as they lined up

With the help of every team member mentioned above, the kids got there portion os the food along with 2 fingers of banana. They were very happy to receive this direct food. To be frank, if not for the fear, cooked food do bring more joy and excitement to the kids than uncooked food but what can we say? The world is bad and wicked, and so it is difficult to know a good person now especially strangers like us.

Dishing the food

After dishing the food, we took some pictures and the head teacher gave her vote of thanks. We zoomed off again to our different locations. It was a mission accomplished! All thanks to the most high for yet another accomplishment.

It was a wonderful outing. I can stop thanking you for bringing this initiative at this hard time. Thanks for being our leader who humbles herself to mingle with every class. Till next week I love you.

Every smile counted. I was so honoured to be in their midst. Every child out there deserve to smile and not just being forced to in the process of learning. Can't wait to hit on it this week. Do you know a teacher from this school signed up on Steemit?

I really liked your post. Your food was amazing where you tried to make recipes with different types of vegetables. You also tried to feed everyone. Not everyone has the mentality to feed everyone. Also, if we can help each other by giving food like this, then you have taken initiatives for many more things in our world.
