"We can make our lives sublime"
Man is by nature an imitative creature. The virtuous and inspiring lives which the great men led have had a great influence on many generations. It is the noble lives of great religious teachers as well as social reformers that have enriched society and helped in making people better, wiser and happier.

The founder as well as a preacher of the Pakistan idea, the poet of the East, and the great thinker of the Muslim world, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal had been a fountain of liberal thoughts. a source of moral teaching and a messenger of liberty brotherhood, justice, and self-recognition. Through his several works in Urdu, Persian, and English, he spread his golden thoughts among the human-beings generally and the Muslim World especially.
Allama Iqbal was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877. After completing his primary education at home, he was admitted to a Mission School. He became proficient in Arabic and Persian under the supervision of his tutor, Syed Mir Hasan, a great scholar. From Murray College, Sialkot, Iqbal came to Government College, Lahore. There he came under the influence of Sir Thomas Arnold. He did his M.A. in Philosophy. He went to England for higher studies. From Germany, he did his Ph.D. in Philosophy. He also obtained the degree of Bar-at-Law from the Cambridge University.
On his return journey to India, he traveled to many European and Middle East Countries. The past glory and supremacy of the Islamic culture and power made him stay and weep over them at every step. He composed many mournful and exciting dirges on the outdistanced glory of the Islamic power and civilization. He had now realized the dangers of Western culture and

material development. He was not impressed by the Western culture. He says:
"Empty of concord is the soul of Europe"
"Whose civilization to no Makkah bends"
Allama Iqbal introduced Islamic principles and Quranic theories produced Islamic principles and Quranic theories in his poetry. He says Islam does not divide the unity of man into spirit and matter. In Islam religion the state, spirit and matter are not separable.

Iqbal guides us towards our faith and love of God. He says that we must have unflinching U p ) faith in God and having no faith is worse than slavery. He says:
"Faith is like Abraham at the stake: to be Self-honouring and God-drunk, is faith"
Allama Iqbal points out the reasons for the decline of Muslims in the present world. He complains that the Muslims have lost their strong love for their Creator and His creation. They lack the true spirit of love and their feelings are only skin-deep. That is why they are disunited and their hearts are confused. Their prayers are devoid of their spirit. Iqbal says:
"Love's madness has departed: in The Muslim's veins the blood runs thin; Ranks are broken, hearts perplexed, prayers cold, No feeling deeper than the skin"
His call for action still rings in the ears of every sensitive reader of his works. Politically the Indian Muslims were passing through the most horrible time of their history. They were leading a life of misery and disappointment (46). His poetry infused a new spirit into them. He awakened them from their laziness through his poems. He taught them that only Islam could be the solution to their problems.
Iqbal used the eagle (ul) as a symbol for the energetic Muslim youth. He also presented the concept of "Khudi". This concept gave a new life to the nation and set them to action. In his address at Allahabad in 1930, he presented the two-nation theory. This idea gave a definite direction to the struggle of the Indian Muslims for a separate homeland.
Many collections of his poems have been published. "Bang-e-Dara", "Bal-e-Jabril", "Zarb-e-Kalim", "Asrar-e-Khudi", "Pyam-e-Mashriq" and "Javed Nama" are some of them.
To Iqbal man is the center of the Universe - the "Momin", the human being in the true sense of the term- is the caliph of Allah. Being a human being he must recognize himself.
Allama Iqbal was the first to conceive the dream of Pakistan. He passed away on April 21, 1938, before the birth of Pakistan. His death was mourned by the entire Muslim world. He was the national poet of Pakistan. Iqbal is a guide for all times.
The tomb of Dr.Allama Iqbal was situated near the Badshahi mosque.
