Full fledge wedding season has started, I was missing in action for this very reason. I was out of town to attend my Paternal uncle's (chachu) wedding. We all were very excited for this wedding as everyone had planned to attend this wedding from different parts of the world. I went to Hyderabad a week before the wedding and enjoyed each and every day to its fullest.

Every new day brought its own charm and joy. Everyone was coming one by one on each day and we all would gather up and play loud songs and dance together in happiness. I was the first one to reach there. Two days followed by the flight were very tiring and I didn't do anything but from the third day full fledge wedding preps were started.
Rounds of shopping spree was the most exciting part. I spent two full days in markets, first to buy stuff for my kids and myself and then shopping for bride's mayun.

Mayun is a rasm in which the groom's family go to the bride's home and give her the gifts and things they have brought for her. Girls from groom's side put mehndi on bride's hands and oil on her head. The main theme of this event is mostly Yellow with marigold flowers everywhere. Girls mostly wear gajray which adds special aroma to the mayun event. This start of wedding festivities gets really refreshing.

The time when you are with your cousins passes in a blink of an eye and all that is left behind are beautiful memories. We as kids, take these moments for granted and long for these as grown ups. Although the events, the preparations were pretty hectic with kids but it was all worth it. Now that I am back I am looking at the photos and the videos and smiling constantly like crazy.

This wedding was very emotional as this was our last uncle's wedding and now there won't be many chances where we all would gather up and stay woke all night and talk about our stupid childhoods. My ama would tell us all to sleep in a big lounge with mattresses on the floor as if we were some kind of refugees seeking shelter in some other country. But she knew we wouldn't sleep and keep up with our gossips and dance practices. There were 3 main events with one day gap between all three. And after the last event, we all gathered at a farm house, welcomed the bride and groom in our special Arabic style, played ludo till late night, sipped on cups of tea along with sharing childhood funny moments of each other and had the best times of our lives.
