It is a ball 100% and I had a very close look at it. If all lines would have been in the same direction it wouldn't have looked like a ball and it does. Actually I like these stripes.
You should try out which type fits best to you and also right to the left (or other way round) and up down or down and up.

    Granted the lines still look very amateurish, but at least it's entertaining for the viewer.
