One of my favorite Titans of all time, tight end Delanie Walker, was released by the team on Friday. It's a pretty sad release as he marks the end of an era for the Titans. I'm afraid that Delanie's contributions to this team may become underappreciated over time, since a good few of his seven years with the team, the team really struggled. It's definitely a shame many of his prime years were wasted on poor Titans squads. Most mainstream fans will never have a clue just how good of a tight end that Walker was. But that's simply another reason he is always going to be a beloved Titan FOREVER. The real Titans fans know how amazing this guy was!

Walker grinded through with this team while this team was totally lost and trying desperately to re-build. Walker was a do it all tight end. The lone bright spot on the team while the Titans won only five games from 2014-2015. I personally believe he is the ONLY reason the Titans did not go winless in either or perhaps both of those seasons.

Delanie Walker put up high level stats while having a total QB carousel in Tennessee for several years.

Delanie was a great leader that exuded tougness and consistency when the team seriously lacked it. Playing Madden from like 2013-2015 Walker was the best player on the team, the only reason the Titans were barely playable.

Overall, as a total package, Delanie Walker is the greatest tight end in Titans history.

Delanie Walker's stats in seven seasons, from 2013-2019:

  • 84 games played
  • 381 Receptions
  • 4,423 Receiving Yards
  • 29 Total Touchdowns

Delanie left a beautiful, heartfelt message on Twitter addressing and thanking the fans. It is also the source of the photo I used.

Thank you for everything, Delanie. There is still tread left on those tires. Any team that gets you, will be a very lucky squad! Have a great last couple years, and a better life beyond. #Titanup.
