Yesterday marked a very sad day in the history of the Steem blockchain :-(

Coindesk wrote an article about why the whole crypto community should care about Justin Sun’s Steem drama.. It's a good read.

@gerbino, @andrarchy and @vandeberg resigned from Steemit Inc. So sad to see them leave, but very understandable. Respect for their hard decision.

Justin Sun tweeted a few hours ago that he has successfully defeated the ~~witnesses~~ hackers and the Steemit community is now stronger than ever since we united & solved the difficulties!
What a lie! There were no hackers. He has set the witnesses aside, who run this awesome blockchain for years, and calls them hackers. OMG, unbelievable!

I know we all hate this whole situation, but let's not lose our faith in our community! Steemit is not Steem. I'm convinced we will regain control over our blockchain, one way or another. The future is decentralized! That's why I'm here.

Sad day indeed — though with an interesting twist. At least the community isn't taking this lying down. Looking forward to seeing your stats tomorrow with all the craziness going on — that is, assuming we still have a functional chain by tomorrow :-(

At least it was not put to good use so far. It was used to forcefully replace the top 20 witnesses. We will see what Justin Sun will do after this, but I currently think that Steemit and the Steem blockchain now have their own Mark Zuckerberg in the person of Justin Sun.

That does not really matter. What matters is his behavior and his actions. As the CNBC says, Mark Zuckerberg's control of Facebook is like a dictatorship. I hope that Justin Sun will not do the same thing with Steemit and with the Steem blockchain, but from the looks of the current situation, he may.

I'm seeing a lot of people powering down and that may be what Justin wants. Steem is about more than just money to many of us. It is a collection of online communities who can achieve great things. I'd hate to lose that.

Nowadays there are 20-25 000 daily active Steem accounts, 7-10 000 posts per day, but the average number of comments per post is only 1-2. Most of these comments are bot comments. Nowadays the real human interaction is rare on the Steem blockchain. Even if people write comments, they often write bot-like and spam-like comments to get attention to their own posts. Currently all I see is the lack of real human interaction on the Steem blockchain. Many posts are either ignored or overlooked, because most of the Steem blockchain users are selfish and greedy. Most of the Steem blockchain users are focusing only on their own posts, but they do not care about other people's posts. Sorry to ask, but what kind of communities do you mean?

It depends on where you look. Some of my posts get a good level of engagement, but then I have connected with lots of people online and in person. You have to work for it. I've found good communities around running, music and fighting abuse of Steem. You generally get out what you put in and it's not just about money for me.
