Carthusian monastery of Valldemossa | Spain

in Steem Sri Lankalast month (edited)

The Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa is a monastery located over 400 meters above sea level in the Sierra de Tramuntana, on the island of Mallorca. The neoclassical building as it can be seen today, dates from the mid-eighteenth century and was built on the old monastery of which there is evidence that it was already operating in the late fourteenth century. Its cloister and guest house were visited by numerous kings and political personalities, who spent periods of reflection and rest there.

The most internationally known personalities were undoubtedly the virtuoso musician of Polish origin Frederick Chopin, and his lover, the writer George Sand, who spent a long period of time in the Charterhouse between 1838 and 1839.

Hi, you can remove the Steem challenge I part from the title. Just the name of the place is enough, as we hope one day people from outside will directly use the website for references.

Done. Many thanks for the advice.

Supporting the Steem Atlas project.
