Seetha Amman Temple in Nuwara Eliya
Hello, my dear Steemian Friends, today with this article I would like to share the details of Seetha Amman Temple in Sri Lanka. Actually, this place is located in Nuwara Eliya and is mainly built for Hindu devotees. This place has very big historical value because this place is deeply connected with the Hindu Epic Ramayana.
Significance of the Seetha Amman Temple
According to the legend, King Ravana kidnapped Sita Devi, wife of Rama and captive in this place. Still, we can see the place where Seetha Devi was in custody. It is believed that this is the only temple built in the name of Sita Devi in the world.
This is the place that believed Sita Devi was in custody
That is why this place is nominated for Seetha. Devotees have faith that this place helps them to fulfill their goals and get rid of their grievances. Hence, people from locals and Indians come to this place in the hopes of finding some relief and asking for faith to achieve their objectives.

According to the legend of Ramayana, it is believed that Hanuman God burnt this area before he left Sri Lanka. We can see the soil of this temple is black. Even today we can witness the footprints of Load Hanuma close to the temple.
The route

As this temple is located closer to Nuwara Eliya Town, it is not difficult to travel to this place. We can go there by bus or train. If we travel by bus, we can use public transport or our own vehicle and get the Colombo/Kandy highway route. If we travel by bus, we can reach Nuwara Eliya town within six hours.
Even though train travel is easy, it takes more than seven hours to reach Nanu Oya Station. We have to get down from Nanu Oya Station and board the bus to Nuwara Eliya. Very good bus service is running from the station to Nuwara Eliya.
After reaching Nuwara Eliya, you can use a bus or a taxi to travel to Seetha Amman Temple. It takes only 7 minutes, as it is located about 3.6 km away from Nuwara Eliya Town.
Opening hours
--
Sita Amman Temple is open to the public every day from 6.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. No admission fees are needed to visit this place, but if you like, you can give some money as donations to maintain the purposes of the temple.
Special Features of the Temple
Inside the temple, there are colorful statues of Hindu gods and goddesses. A lovely stream flows down beside the temple. That stream flows down, creating tiny waterfalls and providing us with beautiful scenery. This stream is believed to fulfill Sita Devi's needs and was created to meet them. According to legend, Seetha Devi had bathed in this place, and the footprints on the rock face are believed to be Hanuma.

When we talk about the facilities, there is a vehicle park to stop your vehicle. You can buy offering items to the temple from the shops near the vehicle park. In addition to sanitary facilities for the general public, there are nice shaded spots and a lot of benches near and inside the temple. Even though you can take photographs, inside photographs are restricted.

Sita Amman Kovil is one of the main temples in Sri Lanka. I saw from your pictures that it is a temple worth visiting. I am sorry that we were unable to visit this Sita Amman Kovil even though we went to visit Nuwara Eliya.
Thank you very much for visiting and leaving such kind feedback.
