Tech Blog #217 | OnePlus 13, 13R & 13T Comparison...
We buy a smartphone as a long-term investment. I mainly expect 3 things from a smartphone. It shouldn't lag while multitasking, it should have a good camera experience, and the battery should be able to hit one day of usage easily. And fast charging would be an added layer. #OnePlus releases smartphones for each and every price range, and today I picked 3 smartphones to have a little comparison.

This year, OnePlus released their OnePlus 13 series, and OnePlus 13, 13R & 13T are today's pick for comparison. While OnePlus 13R &13R are positioned in higher midrange, OnePlus 13 is their flagship of this year. The thing is, these smartphones are hard to find in Brand-new condition. But you can find plenty of light used devices.
Ok.. Let's talk about devices. Even though 2025 is the year of Titanium, OnePlus has chosen to stick with Aluminum. All smartphones have reinforced glass to protect the front glass from scratches. IP68/69 water & dust resistance became a trend this year but only the flagship has it. Others only have an IP65 rating.
Talking about displays, all displays are LTPO AMOLEDs with a 120Hz refresh rate. While both OnePlus 13 & 13R are large with 6.8-inch & 6.78-inch displays, OnePlus 13T has a small display measuring 6.32 inches, which is a plus point for me. It's a better fit for the pocket and is easy for one-handed usability.
Things get interesting when it comes to processing power. Both OnePlus 13 & 13T use the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite, while OnePlus 13R uses a year-old Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The improvement is obvious, but this whole performance won't be tested in many occasions. All smartphones use UFS 4.0 storage technology and LPDDR5X RAMs, which are the latest.
Things get hotter in the camera department. Let's say all smartphones share 50MP primary sensors and 50MP telephoto sensors. But OnePlus 13R & 13T have just 2X optical zoom, while OnePlus 13 has 3X Periscope zoom setup. It also has a 50MP sensor, UltraWide lens with Autofocus, while the OnePlus 13R has only an 8MP sensor. OnePlus 13T doesn't have an ultrawide unit. I mean, it's good to see OnePlus prioritizing a Zoom lens rather than an Ultrawide, as it can be used to capture Portraits. I rarely use the ultrawide unit, but having macro shooting ability is a plus point.
All these smartphones have big batteries and fast charging. Both OnePlus 13 & 13R have 6000mAh batteries. Despite having a small body, the OnePlus 13T has a 6260mAh battery thanks to Silicon-Carbon anode technology. The OnePlus 13 supports 100W wired charging & 50W wireless charging, while the others support only 80W fast charging.
Looking at all these specifications and price points, at my current condition, I would go for the OnePlus 13T because it is a small phone with the best processor. Having no ultrawide is not a big deal. And the other thing is all these smartphones come with Android 15 out of the box and all get 4 major #Android updates. But if I had money, I would go for the OnePlus 13 for sure.
