Entertainment Blog #326 | The Accountant [2016] : Before Watching the Sequel...
If a movie became successful, it has a high possibility to make a sequel or a prequel. However, it must happen quickly, ideally within 4 years. I mean 4 years is also high. You know new movies are being released daily, so the hype of a new movie won't sustain that long, specially when deciding to release a sequel after 9 years for a merely forgettable movie. So of cause I had to watch the first movie before watching the sequel.
So today we are talking about the 2016 movie, "The Accountant", the first one. It's an #action #thriller #movie released in 2016. Skillful stars like Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, Anna Kendrick, and J.K. Simmons play roles here. I wouldn't say it's a pleaser of reviewers, but it did the job at the Box Office.
Talking about the movie, the story revolves around Christian Wolff who is autistic. He has a brother, Braxton. Their mother left them because she could not tolerate the nature of Christian. Their father is a military guy and that has toughten both Christian & Braxton through martial arts.
Years later, now Christian is a forensic accountant and has his own firm, ZZZ Accounting. What he actually do is helping his clients to do money laundering. But the thing is, most of his clients are not that good.
In the interim, USA Treasury director, Ray King wanted to clear some loose ends before he retires. So he gave this job to Marybeth Medina to find this mysterious man named "The Accountant" who were seen with drug lords.
Meanwhile, Christian got a real investigation. He was contacted by "Living Robotics" a cutting edge tech company works specially with human prosthetics. The owners wanted to investigate the logbooks find out where the money is leaking. The findings were clear. But the action took place afterwards is a bit sketchy.
So what will happen? Will Medina find out who "The Accountant" is? Will Christian find out what's going on with "Living Robotics"? It's up to you to find out.
After watching this movie, I watched a little bit of "The Accountant 2". I think the first movie set the stage for the 2nd movie by introducing the characters and that's it. Let's see whether the 2nd movie has a real story..
