Graduation 🤍
Graduation is an event that I most looked forward to as it is a moment that I would be grateful for my hard work, dedication and perseverance of years. The date of the graduation was fixed in such a rush as we were informed only 10 days prior to the convocation day which is barely enough even to stitch a saree blouse in Sri Lanka. Preparations for the graduation obviously happened in a panic.
I wanted to buy a white saree with silver work, but what I ended up buying is a totally different one because I liked how it looked on me. I also trimmed my hair before graduation and went little beyond by coloring it too. I had a nostalgic walk to uni to collect my cloak and garland and the only thing remained to do after that was to wait for the D-day.
When looking back, I could not help but feel “Oh God I really survived those four years” and I was glad that I made it finally. I was humble but ecstatic that I could finally wear the three things that I wanted to wear at the end of my undergraduate years; garland, SLUSA colours and university colours.
I will forever be grateful for my inner circle who held me tight on the violent seas. I will be nothing without them.
Wish that free education will continue to change the lives of so many young souls!
