in Steem Sri Lankalast month

Hello, fellow Cricket Enthusiasts,

You already know that I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of what's happening within the Cricket community. It's the 98th edition now.

Just after finishing the ICC World Test Championship 2025 final, we have already moved to the next season. As I discussed last week,, Sri Lanka faced Bangladesh in the first match.

Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka, 2025

  • The Bangladesh team is in Sri Lanka right now, for a full series of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, 3 T20s from June 17 - July 16.

*After a solid batting performance by both teams in the first match, it was drawn. Anyway, we had a complete opposite result in the next one at the Sinhalese Sports Club stadium, Colombo.

  • Bangladesh started the batting after winning the toss. Even in a good batting patch, that decision didn't turn in their favor. Asitha Fernando started the wicket hunting, getting Anamul Haque for a duck, and it kept going regularly. Even with many missed catches and good starts, no Ban batter could pass the 40-run mark. Before finishing the first day, they were all out for 247 in 79.3 overs.

  • Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Udara set a good partnership of 88 runs for the first wicket. Then Pathum paired with Chandimal to add another 192 runs. After a classy inning, Chandimal missed out for 93 runs. Nissanka once again crossed the 150 mark, scoring 158 runs. Kusal Mendis secured the inning with 84 runs, and Sri Lanka put a mammoth total of 458 with a 211-run lead.

  • Bangladesh had almost two and a half days to make a difference. But our ballers were too good for them. Particularly, Prabath Jayasuriya destroyed their inning with a fifer, and in the first session of the fourth day, they were all out for 133 runs, Sri Lanka winning by an innings and 78 runs.

  • Pathum Nissanka won the Man of the Match and series awards. Out of 28 Test matches between these two teams, Sri Lanka has won 21, 6 matches were drawn, and only one win for Bangladesh.

India tour of England, 2025

  • Well, it's a high-tension series on English soil with 5 red ball matches. Both teams are well-equipped and well-armed.

  • As I discussed last week, England was chasing 371 runs in the fourth inning of the first match. On the fifth day, England needed another 350 runs, and India needed to get 10 wickets. Most teams could have gone for a draw. But not for the McCullum-Stokes era. It's a win/ loss for them.

  • Within a few hours on day 05, the result was obvious as Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett set a 188-run partnership for the first wicket. Duckett scored 149 runs in just 170 balls, and Crawley helped with 65 runs. Root contributed with a fifty, and Stokes and Jami Smith secured an easy win with 5 wickets remaining. Duckett was the man of the match.

  • It's England's second-highest chase.

Australia tour of West Indies, 2025

  • It's another big series with 3 Tests, 5 T20s.

  • The first match at Kensington Oval stadium, Bridgetown, Barbados, was a show of the ballers. Well, Test Cricket is always awesome when ballers take control.

  • Australia batted first, and the Windies pacers didn't make it easier for them. Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph were on the spot, making the Aussie batters speechless. The pair shared 9 wickets between them, restricting Australia to just 180 runs in 56.5 overs. Head's 59 runs were their highest score.

  • Anyway, it was the same for Windies against the mighty Aussie balling line-up led by Starc, Hazlewood, and Cummins. Starc got the opening pair, and wickets fell regularly. Roston Chase and Shai Hope scored 40+ runs, and they ended up getting 190/10 in 63.2 overs.

  • The Australian second inning started pretty badly, losing the first 4 wickets for 65. But Head, Webster, and Carey contributed with 60+ runs to get to a total of 310 runs.

  • Windies needed 301 runs to win the match. But it was just 141 runs for them; Australia won by 159 runs. Hazlewood destroyed the inning with 5 wickets.
