My Sister got married! 🖤
Yesterday was one of the happiest, and most memorable days of my life, as my sister tied the knot. She is the last of my three sisters, and seven years older than me. These three loved me, cared for me, and looked after me, and still do. So, it was very emotional for me and I couldn't be more thrilled for her.
Happy wedded life sister and brother! Have a blessed life in the upcoming adventure. Love you both!
After years of waiting, and disagreements finally her positive response brought happy tears to all of us. It is an arranged marriage, and they had a close relationship for around nine months, about a month ago we visited his house to fix things, previous post.
It was a rather quick planning, and we decided to keep it simple and elegant. Anyway, the past few days and weeks were super busy for me with arranging everything. The hotel, photographer, salon, preparation of the house for the occasion, and other essential things.
At the venue
Before the day of the celebration, we painted our house and Mother was too busy making sweets and other essential food items.
The ceremony took place at a beautiful venue, surrounded by closest friends and family. We took our beautiful bride to the salon at around 03.00 a.m. She had decided to go with the traditional Kandyan saree. There are several items belonging to that, and as the ritual Mother accompanied her to place the thalla, "headpiece" or "hair ornament".
She looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress, with a happy smile. The couple was happy and they have found the perfect match.
Lighting the oil lamp and the registration
The registration and exchanging of rings were scheduled after 9.25 a.m. So, first, we had the official photography season in a separate venue. It was a bit rainy day, anyhow things went smoothly. Then at around 9.00 a.m, the couple arrived at the hotel separately. We kept things simple, without many rituals just like a regular wedding.
Anyway, things went beautifully. My parents and family welcomed the guests, and after a small chitchat, the registration was done.
Mother and father engaging in the rituals
It was quite a special day for all of us. Not just for my little sister's wedding, but after a long time my family reunites. We had a very big family, and as we live in the generational home of my grandfather, our father and mother are just like the glue that holds the bond. Earlier we all got together once in a while, but now people are here and there.
With the current conditions, we couldn't invite all, but could invite the first generation and at least one from each. So, there was a lot to share. That reunion was very emotional to all, despite any small issues with each other.
Me with my brothers, and sisters and father with his
After having the early rituals, we had breakfast, a welcome drink. As I said earlier, the venue is amazing for the budget. It was Eco Garden hotel, near our house. Not very big, but more than enough for small functions. The scenery is beautiful with the view of paddyfields, and mountain range. And a few blocks away, there's the Karawilakanaththa lake as well.
After happy moments, we had photo time with the beautiful couple. My fiance and her mother also accompanied the ceremony. She looked lovely and beautiful in that dress.
With her
We spent hours taking pictures and cherishing the beautiful moment. Then the things that followed with full of dancing, music, and delicious food. Everyone was celebrating the start of this new chapter in their life.
Anyway, after hours of joy, and tears of happiness, it was time for the couple to leave the hotel at around 3.00 p.m. They have planned to stay in Ella for their honeymoon! It was a very emotional moment, especially for my mother. Anyway that's life, right?
So, one again I congratulate my sister and her husband, for a happy wedded life full of love, laughter, and happiness!
So, that's it for today!! Until the next time! Enjoy!
Thank you.
Best Regards!
